Settlement Corp/TitleServ

Can it be true that they closed their doors yesterday?

I've worked with them for more than 10 years and it was one of my biggest accounts. Always a nice crew and no micro-managing!I feel so badly for all those that will have lost their jobs. Can't believe I am out so much money!

Had to faxback the entire closing package for a morning closing by 1 yesterday. Now I know why. Shades of Express Financial Services.

If it is true, it is obvious fraud as they contracted with us knowing full well that we would not be paid. And of course, there is nothing to be done about it.

I've been doing this since 1987 and enjoyed a very healthy 6 figure income for a long time. The last 3 years have been painful. I just wish people were buying resumes of 50+ years old --tough times.

Good luck to all.

I'd contact lender...that money has to be

SOMEWHERE....and accounted for - your closing yesterday morning has to fund at some point and Settlement Corp/Titleserv certain can't hold the money.....

Again, I'd contact lender about yesterday's signing...as for previous ones I might consider getting a written claim/complaint on file with the company's state regulatory agency for funds due on each file.

Just a thought

Re: gone is gone

The first 2 bankruptcies I sent claims to to the court. Lots of repeat paperwork and copies to send in. Got about 8 cents to the dollar. Not worth the aggrevation and postage.

As to recourse from the lender, forget it. Their answer is that they are not involved. Sorry.

Well, this month's mortgage is paid. May will be interesting.

Good luck to all!

I hope there are not a lot of shipping chargebacks coming down the pipe! I haven't worked for Settlement Corp in years.

Re: FEDEX/UPS

After the first bankruptcy, my name never appears on ANY shipping label. Not even the labels they supply. I had @ $145 in shipping charges that UPS tried to collect from me. My depot manager was able to make them go away!

Re: FEDEX/UPS

Ask the Title or Escrow company to sign-up with ShipTropolis.com so you can print UPS and Fedex labels on demand on their account.

1. ShipTropolis.com is secure for the title/escrow company.
2. It's easy for notaries to quickly create labels on demand.
3. It ensures the notary doesn't get wrongfully stuck with the shipping cost.

Disclaimer: I work for ShipTropolis

Cheers,
Bob

Settlement Corp was one of my biggest customers and when Hope left things changed. Fee's went down by 30 dollars a closing, print fee price dropped and then you had to fax back 90% of the package if you could not send it out same day.

Jackie and I had a blow out and I have not worked for them in 2.5 years. At my peak they would give me 10 or more closings a week.

It was so bad they would hire Nations Direct to find notaries in my area, I would turn down Settlement Corp and an hour later Nations Direct would call me. lol

They definitely closed there doors yesterday.... :(

I recently reconnected with an old friend on facebook who was working for TitleServ doing a computer related job and he announced on facebook last night that he lost his job. Company shut their doors without any notice...horrible. Frown

Spoke to Jenny this morning in accounting. It is true. She said she was in the office cancelling all open orders. She said what happened on Friday was very unexpected and she has no answers to any of my questions. I have 1 outstanding invoice from 3/26 but do not expect to obtain payment on time after this news. She stated that there will only be a couple of staff members there in the office to sort out the mess and the future was uncertain for us vendors.
