To Glenn Strickler

"We have notaries from 80-100 round trip miles away from "down the hill" San Bernardino / Riverside / Ontario area driving to the High Desert of California to be paid $75 for edocs. I ran into one at a Fedex a few months ago and was simply told "Once I get all your business, I will just raise my rates".

Un-beeeeee-lieveable, but that CAN work both ways.....

Well, I would have like to have reported that I had something witty to respond to them with, but I was pretty silent. Of course you always think of something to say 10 minutes after ..... Oh well. ...

Time will come that they they can't pay the bills at those rates, and perhaps that is becoming the case. .. I actually had 2 today that met my fee. But I don't bargain any longer. If they say they can't meet my fee, then I politely say, "OK, thanks for calling anyway, have a great day."

That is happening up here also Glenn....Notaries are being told that "they" (SS) can't find "good" notaries so they are being asked to travel 35 - 50 miles one way to come into the Bay Area. What they're really saying is no body here is accepting low-ball fees. I spoke with a notary who called me (not a member of NR) who told me she didn't know you could charge more then $55 - $60 dollars.

its an endless cycle that all of us go through in this biz..

...once this notary realizes just how much hoop jumping they're doing for such low pay, and how much their very little profit is eaten up by gas, toner, paper, etc., they'll raise their rates, then BAM, they'll be out of work, just as quick!

Those cheap a$$ companies that hire NSA's for $50-$75 normally move on to the next sucker notary....a pattern has been the norm for quite a while in this biz IMO...

And how come it seems the low payers are also the slow or non payers?
