Update on Title Logic (from msg. 379715) about paying

quarterly. I called them today about monies due for a signing on 2-23 (over 45 days). They told me a check will be mailed within the week. I mentioned about the post about "paying quarterly" and they know absolutely nothing about that. I'm referring to Title Logic in St. Petersburg, FL.

I posted the message for notaries to be aware of what I was told..."we pay quarterly"..I in no way implied that they would not pay...just not timely in my opinion..I also was told this in an e mail which I would gladly forward to Harry if he would like to verify...I think that if someone has a policy of payment they should own it..in my opinion..After having a conversation with them I was told that a check was being sent out immediately..and I believe that I will receive payment in a few days for my signing that took place 45 days ago..maybe they are rethinking their policy...

Not necessarily reconsidering - quarterly payments would be made in April, July, October and January for each of the preceding quarters - so you're right on schedule!!

that's what I'm thinking, Linda. I do want to make it clear that the company responded to my email promptly and said they would send a check immediately. They were easy to work with. That said, they told me they pay quarterly..

Didn't mean to discredit what you said, only that they

didn't seem to know anything about a "pay quarterly policy". Do you remember who told you that?

Re: Didn't mean to discredit what you said, only that they

Yes, actually here is a cut and paste of my email..."Hi Catherine, your invoice has been received and processed. Our notaries are paid quarterly. I will send you a copy of your check once cut and let you know once it is on the way to you. You can rest assured that you will be paid for the services provided. Thank you and have a good day!

Sent from my iPhone
Amy Mendoza "....I think its cut and dry..at least with me it was there policy.

I'm taking it by reading the posts that they

don't advise the notary in advance of this payment policy? I can't imagine who would take a job, agreeing "oh sure, no problem, I'll wait 3 months to be paid" - unless you get in during that last month of the quarter..

There ya go!! Only work for them in March, June, September and December....then you're on a 30-45 day payment cycle...Smile

Re: I'm taking it by reading the posts that they

They did not disclose a quarterly pay cycle..I did check posts before I worked for them but there was very little on them so I took a chance. They were friendly and everything went smooth..I only posted so other notaries would know there payment cycle...I know it would have helped me when making my decision to take the assignment....Wink

It really is much easier to ask on the first call from a

company, during that initial negotiation, "What is your pay schedule? When will I get my check?" Ask again after the confirmation email when you reply to them, to get it all in writing. If I were to start a job, any job, that is the first thing I want to know, for budgeting.

It sounds to me as though people are afraid to ask about money, only about docs. The money is far more important in the long run.

And, if you don't like the answer, decline, stating that your needs are not aligning with theirs.

KISS!

Then again, good hiring entities for any job disclose their

Pay Policy upfront so the question doesn't even arise. Some jobs it's every week, some twice a month, some once a month, other negotiations may result in various other scenarios.

As a small-business sub-contractor for many years, experience shows that once in a reliable company's payables pipeline, payments range anywhere from cash-on-completion to 45 days. In my case, because charging interest, say after 45 days, was labor-intensive bookkeeping-wise, and I wore all the Hats work-wise, so it wasn't worth it to me, because collection from local companies was a lot easier than now - trying to collect clear across the country. (Ha! Once, I tracked a "builder" to his golf-course lunch with his buds, hammered the check, and brought lunch back to my hungry crew.)

Anyway, in NotaryLand, it's much in the quicko-fasto lane, and a short, well-rehearsed check-list for new companies will serve us well. jmh2c.

Really sorry to hear that. They are a good company to work

with, but I don't extend 90 days terms. I dumped one ss in CA for that very reason. The no. of companies that I do take work from is getting slimmer & slimmer. Uggghhhh!
