What would you do?

I was hungry and stupid when I accepted a signing from Genuine Title/Safir Signing. I had done my homework on NR, but decided to challenge the normal results, given their rating. I told Shannan up front that I was a NR member and I knew their rating. She promised she would make sure I was paid. That was in November, 2010. In Feb. I started calling and emailing them, with no results. Two weeks ago, I followed NR advise. I called the borrower, the LO, then got the email address and phone number of the owner of GT (not K) and called, emailed, left messages. Last week, I was paid in full and again, today I got another check!! I will never work for them again, but... What would you do with the extra check? LOL

Or Shred it

Why spend money returning it? Send them an email telling they you shred it. If they don't trust you they can spend the money to put a stop payment on the check.

Cash it then send the money to a SA they owe? Maybe?

Although I like my own suggestion (hehe) I would wait for the first one to clear then contact them and let them know about the additional check offering to either shred it or if they prefer have it ready for pick up by FedEx (on their dime of course).

I had one company that insisted on having me ship the overpayment check back to them. They had already paid me by PayPal but didn't realize it and sent a check also. I had offered to send them a scanned copy of the voided and destroyed check but for some in house reason they had to have the actual check in hand. They had UPS pick it up the next day.

Re: Cash it then send the money to a SA they owe? Maybe?

I know I should not cash it, but I would love to send the money to some charity. I will contact them, as you all have suggested, after the first one clears, and ask them if that is something they would like to consider! I think I'll wait for four months before I give them a call. Ha!

Go get 'em!

I'm told that Jay Zukerberg is the President of Genuine Title. His # is 443-738-3400. Also, [e-mail address] is a way to get the owner. It worked for me.

Not even on the radar, Sha...

It's not up to you to decide what to do with the misplaced payment - other than to let them know, send it back and let them do with it what they will...

I am happy that you got paid, BUT , I would never call the

Borrower in these circumstances.
They paid whatever closing fees were required thru the HUD.
It is not their problem nor their business that the party to whom you determined to extend credit, failed to pay you in a timely manner. They should not have been contacted regarding this issue.
IMO, whoever on NR gave you that advice, gave you bad advice.

Just because they’re thieves doesn’t mean you should be one. After the first check clears send it back. As Linda says, with a note to send it to one of the many notaries they have not paid, including me. Smile!!!
