You should be ashamed-
As a fellow notary, suggesting a fee of $75.00 for 185 pages (printing twice (370 pages), with round trip mileage of 45. "Signing Source" not only insults the notary but screams a lack of respect in treating his fellow notary unfairly in business. May your phone seldom ring with an abundance of work requests....wink wink.

Especially when you get the estimated settlement sheet and see that all the usual suspects are listed, but somehow the remote notary loan signing agent is getting cut to the bone. The other line items are still stealthy amounts. Where is that money going if it's not going to the notary (settlement agent?!). Someone besides us, that's for sure!

Thanks Sue!
I've gone a round or 2 with Terry before, it's called greed and not playing fair. He actually suggested the package was 90 pages, open that puppy up and bam, 185 pages. He counters with, no, it's 128 pages. I counter with, ah no, open the file, the lender wants 3 copies of deeds and three copies of riders, count again ss wizard. I of course can only hope the notary that allowed herself to be so highly insulted by such an obscene fee read her instructions correctly and printed three of each. I would certainly hate to see Terry be bitten in the arse and have to send a second notary out to correct a OOPS dipping into his profit.
Oh well onward and upward, after all we do have the CMA's coming up on Sunday, we can see some pretty faces, fashions, and who's lovin on who, hear some good tunes... wink wink

It's the same old story, "Any monkey can do your job" so they don't see us as actual independent businesses with a profit margin to keep, or bills of our own to pay. They "say" they look for experienced notaries, but that is false advertising when in actuality that is only part of what we do. The seal is the tool; it does not encompass the knowledge, customer service, professionalism, and integrity it takes to do this job well and be successful.
I love it when the call and say, there is only three notarizations and we pay $40...as if that sums up my business, who I am and what I do. They obviously don't do their homework and read our profiles when they choose to call and insult our intelligence.
I am not sure what the answer is, there are always those that take advantage, and I am too busy with going back to school, running my business and my household to find a solution at this time. It is the greedy trappings of a free market system and they have every right to quote ridiculous fees, just as I have every right to turn them down laughing.....

Well said, JanelWI!
"The seal is the tool; it does not encompass the knowledge, customer service, professionalism, and integrity it takes to do this job well and be successful."
Great point. It's not just about a stamp. The attitude that all that's needed is to just slap that puppy on a piece of paper is beyond insulting and shows a total lack of understanding about the duties of a Notary Public. And the loan signing responsibilities are a whole other ball of wax... But you're right. We can choose to not play in their ball park!

Is 185 pages the norm in a loan signing document scenario?
