Re: droid x vs iPhone?

iphone is fine, but with the droid is like a windows pc, and the iphone is like a Mac.

The droid is more business friendly;

Droid has unlimited memory, you can just switch memory cards

You can upgrade the battery for 12.00 dollars, try that with the iphone

You can transfer pdf files from the memory card to your laptop

You can use it as a wireless hotspot

Display not as boring as iphone(my opinion)

I love the color green, and every time I tap on a icon in the htc droid inc. it turns a bright green color ala HRBLOCK logo color, I love that color, did I mention that I love the color green?

Excellent GPS!

Cons:

Bad battery life, but I am always in front of my pc, or in my car where I have a charger.
I purchased a 3500 mHA battery, so no problems here, it's makes a little thicker, but who cares
I have huge hands, so no problem.

I got my droid from Verizon and they took $100 off of it and I only had to pay $150, whereas Sprint wanted $450 for their droids; I told them to lay off the crack.

I love the droid.

Which droid?

"Droid" doesn't just refer to only one or two phones. There is a virtual candy store full of Android phones out there to choose from, for every carrier. They are being upgraded so fast, it's like that Best Buy tv ad with the billbord and the customer coming out of the phone store with a brand new phone, reading the billboard that has a picture of a phone and states "It's newer than your phone!"

Huh? I only paid $200 for mine from Sprint, and that included the first months service and car charger and hard case. Sprint uses the SAME coverage/towers as Verizon, monthly fees are less and all cell-to-cell calls are FREE 24h/7d.

That's fine if you want to subjugate your soul to AT&T and I'd rather not. Smile

www.wirefly.com has the HTC DROID INCREDIBLE FOR FREE, WITH 2 year contract,

Costco has the motorola Droid X for 49.99+tax and they give you 2 phone accesories.

Switched from a Blackberry to Verizon Droid X in November, what a difference. The navigation is fantastic. I use it instead of the Nav in my Lexus, it's much more accurate. The feature are terrific. The Chase bank app is great, you can do a deposit through the phone and it's on your account immediately. I have 4 different email accounts and I send and receive from all of them without a problem. Go for it, you won't be sorry. BTW, there's a reason the iPhone is going for $50, the droids are doing a job on them.

AT-T is offering an iphone for 19.00 and about the Chase...

account, since I got my HTC Droid INC, I haven't made one deposit in the ATM machine or with a bank teller. Much faster and checks get deposited the very same day I received them.

Android vs iPhone

My wife has had an iPhone for nearly two years now, I recently went to a Motorola Bravo, a mid range Android phone. I chose that just because I like Motorola and ATT is (was) offering it free with a 2 year contract. Neither one of us are heavy users like video and such, but now that I have used a real smart phone for a couple of months for email, GPS, texting whatever, I won't go back to a standard. I don't have to carry my laptop on vacation any longer.

I won't comment on the virtues of the various carriers. I travel frequently with members of my motorcycle group who have phones from every carrier between them, and we find that the service quality of a particular company is highly geographical. We have been in areas where a fellow rider had to use my ATT phone, and other areas where I had to borrow a Verizon phone. It just depends.

I believe that eventually, the Android based system will blow Apple out of the water the same as Windows did to the Mac operating system just because it is not as restrictive. The Android system passed Apple as the most used smart phone OS late last year, and is continuing to widen the lead at warp speed. If I want the Apple operating system, I have to buy an iPhone. If I choose Android, I have a choice of many brands and models of phones. More competition between brands will produce a better phone. Apple is only competing with themselves. I only have a mid-range Android phone, and my iPhone freinds are shaking their heads on what my phone can do vs the iPhone. And with the top of the line Droid phones, there is really no comparison. I was just too cheap to buy one, and my needs are few. It is fun to play with, though.

But you must be careful. There is more of a chance that there will be malware out there for Android since it's an open system, so you must be careful when downloading apps and watch the permissions asked for. Read the reviews.

I have used my wife's iPhone on and off since she has had it and I think it is very competent and user friendly, but it's like riding my motorcycle with training wheels on an enclosed track, then looking out there and seeing a beautiful mountain that I want to explore, but I can't because the road doesn't go there. The Android goes there. But you don't have the training wheels to rely on.
