notarizing an affidavit

I was asked to notarizie an affidavit that is to be filed in another state. Not sure I can do that. I have emailed NCSOS for a clarification. The person resides in NC but the affidavit is being filed in MD.

Why not?

We notarize affidavits all the time bound for other states. Other states must recognize notarization from out of state. I doubt it will be an issue.

Re: Why not?

exactly, my understanding is his:

if necessary, that state can get a Certificate/Apostille done(sometimes, this applies to states and not just out of the country) See the State Website for Notary Rules

I think they need to drive to MD..Trip distance: 372.95 mile

to get it notarized by a MD notary.

Lets see...746 mile round trip...32 MPG hwy...23.3 gals...$3/gal...heck that is less than $70.00 of gas and only 13.56 hours at 55MPH...oops forgot to add the 5mins for the MD notary to notarize. If they leave by 9am Saturday they could probably be back before the Easter Bunny gets to SC.

I heard that there is to be an investigation into price fixing and colution regarding gas prices.

Remind you of home mortgages a few years back?

REGULAR UNLEADED is $3.94 in Michigan... Funny thing though... My best friend from Ohio filled her tank up for $ 65.00 (from 1/4 tank to full) in Westchester, Oh prior to driving into Detroit this past weekend. She only used a half tank of gas driving here and her car was parked the entire weekend she was here. On her return to Westchester, OH she filled her tank back to full (from 1/2 tank to full) and unbelievably, it took $ 50.00. She also used well over the half tank of gas going back home than she used coming. My aunt, who has dementia, says we are being cheated here in Michigan on gas and I initially dismissed her claims. Now, i believe her!

Sort of Notary 101....? Perhaps extra training in general

notarization may help you decipher these relatively simple and basic notary public tasks on your own, just a suggestion....not an attack. Wink
