Atty talk show Q & A
Interesting advice about doing something without some/part/upfront payments. His advice, "If they're not willing to give you something upfront, don't do it. You're opening yourself up to non-payment and having to sue in small claims court, issues".
Now I find that very interesting advice indeed.

What was the advice in regards to? Some attorneys will work on contingency basis - workers' comp, defective product, wrongful death, etc.

I'm not sure where that comment came from, but I thought Yoli had a good question. Was this in relation to modifications? (Your post was kinda vague... )

Sound advise!….But alas… it just will not work in this (NSA) business. We could and should be paid cash on the spot by the borrower when we personally present the docs for signing. But we usually aren't. One: because they really did not hire us. Two: because they want to ‘finance’ the closing costs. Three: How do they reflect that cash payment on the HUD if they don’t know far in advance? Four: If the loan rescinds we would have to refund the “signing Agent” part of our fee. We are unique in the fact that we really don’t fit in any category…and that we are grossly underpaid for our services without which not one loan would close. JMO
