Beware of Service Link, signing service

I just found this out today, if you agree to do a signing for them and you print out the documents and make the trip, if the borrower changes their minds, they dont reimburse anything. I just had a cancellation with another company, they will pay my edoc fee of 25 dollars and a 30 dollar trip fee. I told service I was not agreeing to that what if you have to travel 40 miles one way you would be out your gas and printing fees. service link told me that since they dont get reimbursed by the borrower they dont reimburse notaries. I told them until they change this outrageous policy to call another notary. if you want to voice your displeasure of this rip-off, call them at 888-381-7381, fax 866-834-7479, I dont know about the rest of you but printing 2 copies of 100 page documents can get expensive. Dont allow these companies to screw us notaries, if enough people complain, they will change the policy.
Its as bad as someone willing to do signings for 30 dollars so they get more call backs, it hurts all of us. leave them a message on their voice mail that their policy is BS. I did.

you are the voice of contradiction...that's all I have to say.

Yes, a voice of contradiction:

In addition to what's already been said:

Message # 393614 ===> 11 years experience, 4500 signings
Message # 393624 ===> 10 years experience, 2500 signings

Why not just "pick" a number and stick with it? Are they REALLY true, anyway?

Okay, I'm generally a REALLY nice person and don't like to say negative things.... but I just can't help myself here... I know I'll probably regret this... but Joe... you're NOT helping yourself here at ALL. I don't know if you looked at the responses to your earlier posts, but perhaps you should.

You said:

"Its as bad as someone willing to do signings for 30 dollars so they get more call backs, it hurts all of us."

This coming from somebody who has, on their public profile:

"basic signing fee within Chico. 65 dollars, edoc fee (2 sets) 20.00. fax back notarized pages. 5.00. Fax back entire loan doc, 15-20 dollars depending on how many pages."

While I don't begrudge anyone setting their own fees for their own businesses... there's no way you're making a living charging those rates.

"I dont know about the rest of you but printing 2 copies of 100 page documents can get expensive."

Yes, that's why we don't take the lousy $65 offers for jobs, either.

Good catch Marian!

I was wondering where the "$30" signing fee number came from. I guess if someone is accepting $65 the SS companies are trying another round of "let's cut it in half again and see if they bite again."

I love how the low ball accepting notaries are now having problems with other low ball accepting notaries. I guess what goes around comes around.

I rarely post in the last 4 years but I have a question for you. ARE YOU FOR REAL. Your posts would indicate NOT.

Joey, just a bit of advice; 1. This is a National forum,

with hundreds, probably thousands of years of combined experience and knowledge.

2. An inquisitive person might read the valuable responses, and cull the gems of wheels not to invent in our biz.

3. Publically slamming particular companies for long established policies isn't effective, because, in this case, the fault is yours.

4. One of the issues to discuss ~prior~ to agreeing to an assignment, is this important issue: No-Signs. If, upon asking, you don't agree with a policy, it's a signal to decline, in a professional way, an offer.

5. Your published prices do not appear to comport with the national averages frequently discussed here - as well as admonistions to research your actual costs, your actual budget, your actual circumstances, etc, etc, etc.

6. To become successful, there must be a willingness to learn the ropes, laws/regs, operations, and accounting - all very large subjects.

7. This is a very large virtual classroom, and as in all classrooms, you get out of it what you put into it.

Just a suggestion.

Joey, don't know who you talked to at servicelink, but I have done many signings for them and have always received a full fee if I went to signing and client refused to sign docs. They do pay a reduced fee if the client is not at home at time of signing, but I always recovered original fee and extra trip fee if I went back a second time. may have been a mixup in communication.

Joey , I feel that you must have been disrespectful to them.
And, keep in mind signing services and others read these forums.

Also, they are very slow pay. I have been in since 1985 and this is a very tricky business and no way to collect.
