I need to purchase E & O insurance. Does anyone know a good company? And what is normal amount of insurance to take out?

I just got my E and O here on NotRot. You can order through the website or call in. The price is the same as some other companies.

As for "normal" I have not been asked yet by a company to have it so I am unsure what most people take out. $25,000 or more??

I've carried 25,000 for 6 years but just increased it to 50,000 for a new client and bought here on NR. Fast and easy.

There are many Insurance companies that will sell you E & O insurance for quite a bit less than NotRot and are just as fast and easy.

Re: Oops darn iPad. Was trying to say: My first commission
I had $25,000 E&O. I increased to $50,000 my second term.

Notary Rotary has Notary Public E & O, which covers notarial errors only. You can buy it for one year or for four years. NR also offers Signing Agent E & O for some states. When you go to the Notary Supplies tab for your state, you'll see what NR offers for your location.

I have always carried $10,000 and it's free for 6 years with my notary bond which is only $50.
Some policies renew annually and some run the length of your notary commission.
My best deal came from a local mom and pop insurance agency. I have never desired more than $10,000.
Some may disagree, but I don't believe in carrying a huge notary E & O policy as in my state notarial error does not invalidate the validity of a document.

I bought $10k E&O right here on NotaryRotary, along with an ID checking. The service was outstanding, the communication with the customer service folks was excellent (I needed spelling fixed due to issues with accented characters in my last name). The shipping was prompt and everything arrived on time and exactly as agreed. The only way to make it better would be to put a button on the web site that makes my DVD drive open up with a cup of steaming-hot espresso.
