How Much People Trust Notaries
Yesterday I was at Saks Avenue's executive offices for a one notarization document. As I waited the girl from the jewelry department was sitting there with me waiting for the meeting. I finally got into a conversation whether I was supposed to notarize the docs in her hand. Since I had been waiting a long time, I asked if I could see them. The lady handed me everything including a diamond ring in a plastic bag.
I was shocked to learn the receipt said $220,000 receipt for the diamond ring. When I realized what I had in my possession, I flipped out saying "that could buy a house!". I asked "security guards should have accompanied you here" and she responded they had.
That diamond ring is something one doesn't come across every day that was in my possession about 30 seconds. They trusted it in my hands. See how much people trust notaries these days?

Reminds me of the time a 4.34 ct diamond fell into my purse
All I could talk about later was how far do think I'd have made it? LOL!
The fact that my jeweler had flopped it out into my hand shocked me so much I dropped it. He now jokes that I'm scared of big stones...

I was at a bank conducting a closing.....
and needed to copy the borrowers ID. They buzzed me to the back without knowing me from Adam or escorting me. I walked directly behind all of the tellers and past an open safe. I though about and decided against jokingly telling them to give me all their money!!
This was a major bank in Northern VA too!
