Internet browser
I know that some use different browsers than IE. Why?
Did you used to use IE and then switched? How does that work for you? Is there much of a learning curve when you changed? Did everything look different? Act differently?
I am asking as I have been troubleshooting a problem with MeetUp.com, a social site that I use for going out and doing things. They (meetup) suggested that maybe I want to change browsers to see if I still have the problem.
Sometimes I think I understand a lot with computers, others I feel like a mushroom. Today, with this issue, I feel I am being sliced for the saucepan. Therefore, your comments are welcome and needed.
Thank you.

When you install(ed) it, did (does) it automatically override IE?

They don't conflict with each other. Just set Mozilla as your default. I totally removed IE from my computers.

I have both Mozilla Firefox and IE on my computers, and use them both. I go to a couple of websites that are set up so that they will not work with Firefox... To me that's the sign of a lazy website designer, one who was trained on IE, probably uses MS Front Page to design the website, and won't stretch his/her brain to learn how to program properly. My son designs websites to work properly with both browsers, as well as Opera.

Many problems can occur due to incompatibility. Go to tools, compatibility view and check show all websites in compatibility view. This resolves most problems. Other type problems have existed with IE 9. if so, delete IE 9, and reinstall IE8

I am using IE 8, don't see Compatibility View under tools. By switching to another browser, I have to go through the learning curve of where stuff is, how to edit, where is my mail icon (not evident on firefox) and so on. Big PITA. But, MeetUP gives me comment section and I can't see the first 20 +/- characters of the string. I wouldn't mind, except it is usually comments on photos and how done, etc. so now I am losing the education value contained.
This was MeetUp's way of working around the problem and I just don't know. I'm stumped. Not quite to the "anchor" yet, but soon I am sure.

I have IE8, Mozilla, and Chrome. There are a few sites that won't work well on IE. Most of the time I am on Mozilla, but Chrome moves along faster.

I use firefox at the suggestion of my computer guru who has a computer fix-it shop. My issue was the pop-ups which firefox all but eliminated. I can however use both at the same time, IE browser open, firefox browser open with no problems. I use yahoo mail

MSN was going to start charging so we had three months to make a switch to another browser. We set up with IE and our e-mails appeared on both MSN and IE during this interim period. When the three month period was up, MSN was shut off and no more accessing of it. WE loathed IE so we recently switched to Firefox and like it so much better.
