Missing docs? Odd
I got an email from a company saying I needed to go back and get two docs signed since they were not signed properly. I emailed back and, asked for copy of the originals that were not signed properly. They emailed back saying couldn't do that because the two forms were missing from the package. It is odd because the two forms were for the same thing one of those where each borrower signs their own. Which I have done many many times. The last email also said that if I turn down the resign that they will not put a signing reject in the system. I think these forms were not in package at all. I know that some of you will say that you save the packages till you get paid. How do you do this? Do you put it on your harddrive?Or on some other type of saving device like a cd or card?

I save the Docs to a Flash drive, and delete them once I am paid.

Yep... save to harddrive or wherever you want UNTIL you get paid, at least. There is always an option to 'Save' a package...whether it's from another site or just save the e-mail w/ the pdf attachments. Just be consistent with where you save them (make a new folder) and you won't be hunting them down. Sadly, this happens and you've no way to prove your side of the story and possibly are forced into a return trip on your dime. Being able to tell them: not in pkg., need new fee for these or yep, in package, send me a copy of what I did 'wrong' often changes their tune very rapidly.

The docs could have actually been in the package. The package sometimes goes through several hands at the escrow company and the docs in question could have gotten separated from the package during this process and are laying on someone's desk.
I keep them on my hard drive until I get paid

Good point about the number of people that handle the docs and the possibility of them being lost on their end.

Let me add ...
First, they said the "documents were not signed right" and then when you wanted a fax so you could look at them they came up "missing". A red flag .....

If the docs were emailed to you, find the original email and download them again to see what was in the original package sent to you.
Flash drive works well for saving docs until payment is received.

I will go back since it is in my own neighborhood. It is just odd that they were two identical forms. And, there was no big deal about where signatures went I have done many. All I could think was maybe I forgot to stamp it. But, usually they will just send those back.

Without you saying who you were doing signing for, I had the same situation last week, to go back and resign the 1046. I knew I had done the signing correctly, so I resent my signed docs with a note saying these are correct. Within a hr. I received a reply docs. were a ok. You wonder who is looking at these on the other end?

I was doubting myself because the docs they say were missing were the signature affidavits I thought well maybe if I had run out of paper they printer missed those two? Which would have been strange it missing two of the same forms. But, now looking at the docs they resent me the loan application is in there too. I sure know that I would have noticed that a loan application was missing! I tried to pull up the link from first time docs were sent but, it won't let me in it has expired. I could argue with this closer all night long. At least the borrowers live five minutes away. I have learned my lesson.

Lots of good advice in this thread, so this may be more of a recap than anything, but here's my 2 cents...
In those situations where there's a link to retrieve docs, there is also usually a button to "save a copy". I always do that.
Glenn made a good point about how their story changed. If it was missing, how could they tell you it was signed wrong? Big red flag. I'd bet dollars to donuts those pages were either never sent or they got caught up with some other docs somewhere.
This example is another good reason for keeping a journal. Since these were to be notarized, there should be a journal entry if they were in the package. That would be the first thing I'd check.
Finally, I'm glad your borrowers are close by! At least it wasn't a very expensive lesson learned...
