MortgageDocs "signings"

Got a broadcast "opportunity" to travel 35 miles for a signing of only 10-12 pages (must be an auto loan) for the great fee of $30-45.

I don't know who in the area took it, but if they enjoy traveling for over an hour round-trip, plus spending time printing those 20-24 (borrower copy included) pages, then additional time to fax the package back, more power to them. I'd rather save the wear and tear on me and my car.

BTW, as I was reading that blast-mail, I got a call for GN work that I got $45 for. Fewer miles; no printing; no faxing and paid immediately.

I get those often but with only one other person in my area I'm almost certain that no one takes those jobs.

I do always reply with my fee. I have yet to get a response.

I'm trying to get them to take me off their database. I get at least 1 message a day, sometimes several. They usually request a distance I'm not willing to go for a ridiculous amount. I sent them my hourly rate and suggested if they could meet that, then I might consider one of their closings.

When the get desperate, they will make a call...but then offer the same thing. That's funny.

I hate the way they think our fee should be reduced because of the amount of pages we are printing. Is that what our pay involves, printing? Hmmm. Then why is it when the package is extremely large they say nothing and just assume that printing is in our fee no matter how many pages. We are not Kinkos. We don't base our pay on printing or driving. It's for a professional service that they need a reliable professional to handle. Pay up I say.

I am also wondering who is taking these. I have been getting lots of calls for refi's with low fees. Some one in Tulsa must be taking these low ball fees. Why?

It's unfortunate but maybe they don't know better?

I live in Tulsa and have been receiving the same e-mails. I can assure you that I am not taking these jobs, either! I have stuck to my fees since I started in this business. I will admit to "working with" one of my best and favorite customers a time or two and it has paid off! But, that was a couple of years ago. I wouldn't back out of my driveway for $40.00!

Leslie, if you find out, let me know. It's obvious they aren't NSAs as a first business.

I keep getting emails, and the occasional phone call, as well, up to 3-4 a week or more. They were pretty consistent offering $40-45 for auto loans. I have responded with my fee and also told them on the phone. I usually delete automatically, but just opened one today and see that they've LOWERED the fee to $35! And one was for a signing in a different county! I couldn't believe it. I emailed back that it was an insult and to remove me from the list, but they never respond. Guess I'll be rerouting that address to my junk mail folder! Ridiculous...
