PayPal

Anybody get a (fraudulent) notice from PayPal asking you to verify your personal information? Be careful!

Yes, I did, and....

I logged in with my password. Am I in trouble? How can you tell it's fraudulent?

Re: Yes, I did, and....

When I clicked on the link my Norton said it is a fraudulent site. I’d go directly to PayPal and report it to them and maybe change your password.

Re: Yes, I did, and....

Also if you look closely at the email it says : “PayPai” although the “I” is in caps. I doubt if anyone actually from PayPal would spell there name incorrectly.

Glad to hear it! Obviously we did not get the same email? I can send you (PM) the one I received if you want.

Re: I just contacted PayPal and...

LC: make sure when you contact PayPal that you don't use the phone number or link that they have on the phishing email. The bad guys set these things up to look fairly realistic and will even have the phones staffed at the other end....

PayPal emails are addressed to the name on the acct

Fraudulent emails are usually addressed something like "Dear PayPal customer".

From their website:
Forward fakes to [e-mail address]

If you think you’ve received a phishing email:

Forward the email to [e-mail address]
Delete the email

Be on the safe side
Go to the My Account tab and click History to check your transaction history for inaccuracies.

I did receive a notice that so & so was about to withdraw over $400.00 for an invoice that I supposedly had bought...naturally they wanted my info. I was worried because I only had little time to react to it. But I waited without giving any info...obviously someone was phising.
