Time for a new printer AND a new All-In-One. Suggestions?

What's the latest and greatest? Must both be HP. Printer needs to be laser, minimum 30-35 pages per minute, dual tray (hopefully a REAL dual tray, not just a 50 page utility tray), reasonably priced, refurb is fine if available. All-In-One needs to have a very good scanner that can handle a loan package quickly.

And go...

Not thrilled w/my HP LaserJet 2840

Tempermental, the sheet feeder often jams, legal size doesn't like running through the paper tray or the 50 page utility tray. Does not scann to PDF, copier does not take legal size paper, each sheet needs to be placed face down individually on the glass.

At least this indicates what not to get.

Just got a brand new Photoprinter from HP (for free) it's an inkjet I will use strickly for scanning, faxing and printing personal photos. Received it as part of a site survey HP is doing in my area. I have a dual tray LaserJet 1320tn that's a workhorse and has served me well for the past 6 years.

suggest to never buy in store products. Inventory can be old, and the vendor wants to sell old product before he displays new product. I have best luck on www.costco.com and if you are a member, free shipping. suggest first go to mfg web site, www.brothermall.com find your product, then go to costco for pricing and order.

I prefer brother over all others, for many years. if you want color, try mfc-9560cdw if you want black excellent work horse is mfc8860. the 8860 is not a new model, but I bet you can get excellent price on amazon

Recently got a Brother MFC-7840W through Costco on-line. I had been shopping lasers and just happened to check costco site. Ran into a good special on this machine. It was about $50 less than everywhere else. If you are not pressed for time keep shopping and keep track of prices you see for specific models. Sooner or later someone will have a blowout deal on one. Good luck.

Since everyone wants to tell you about Brothers, I will suggest CNET.com - let them tell you about the latest, greatest HP's with their reviews, then it is just the right price after that.

People: he said MUST BE HP -

Someone please explain duel tray printers to me. What advantage do they have over single tray machines?

Two trays - one designated for letter size - second

for legal size - can print either size without swapping paper..

I had a heck of a time figuring that out when I was starting out. Finally ended up with Brother printers, which IMO do a great job for the money. :-)

With a dual tray printer, letter size paper will be in one tray and legal size paper in the other. When you print a loan package, the printer will pull the correct size paper, mixing letter and legal paper correctly.

scanner with adf

Love the HP 4250 dual tray. I think I have half a million prints on it and it's going strong. I too am looking for a scanner with ADF. I heard from a borrower that their Brother is great, so I'm leaning in that direction as well. Looking for more feedback on good scan to pdf machines. I'm tired of fiddling with fax machines.
