For me as well....what part of NC do you cover? I cover Iredell, Catawba, North Mecklenburg. and sometimes Lincoln.

Its very slow. I got out of town this week and will be sitting on the beach today thinking about getting into another line of work. Any closings happening are not enough to keep it going any more. Fee's keep coming down and margins are becoming thinner with expenses going higher. Look at the stock prices of the bank stocks, like BAC $7.50. If things were really getting better then the stock prices would reflect higher. Companies like PMI and home builder HOV are at the point of bankruptcy. Any one looking to get into this business will soon find out its not a very profitable line of work. Many Signing Agents will quit this business, as many already have quit.

Welcome to my world, MobileZ71...I just took a

full time position last week...closing volume just not cutting it in my neck of the woods any more. I've had 3 calls in all of August so far...

Sad - I really enjoyed it too

Sheesh! One call last week, one this week, and one next week. And this week's was just a little $50.00 job. I sure can't live on this! Oh well, I'm just enjoying the summer - going to the waterpark today, maybe Kings Island tomorrow. I hope it picks up in September or I will be looking to supplement or replace!

The past 3 weeks??? Yikes, my work has been slow since January! But I am very selectively and only work for a small number of loyal, good-paying clients right now Smile

I had to turn down 10 closings the weekend of July 29-31 as I went to the beach <sigh>, and have had only 21 closings since. Although slow for me, it sounds like I have more business than others.

Wow, you have had 21 closings since the first of the month? I did that many in a good month when times were good! Now I would be happy with half that, but I'm lucky if I get 1-2 a week. Lately has been better, but I don't expect it to last.

Re: LynnNC

I live in Raleigh, NC, which is an urban area and has several suburbs,; it is also not far from Durham and Chapel Hill. I cover five counties and normally don't travel more than 45 minutes, and if I am asked to do so, I charge an additonal fee.

Real Estate has been fairly stable in this area, down about 10% in the last 4 years, so people still have equity in their homes and are able to refinance.

I have been closing loans for 6 1/2 years and, luckily have several stable sources of business.

I am fortunate, but expect business to get slower.
