ss offers $40
got a call to do a modification for $40 , 15 miles away. I stuck to my price, the lady said she would try to get it approved and call me back. No call back. I could get all the work I wanted if I would do signings for $40. You guys stick to your guns. I can't believe ss would spend so much time on the phone to try to get a notary to do it for nothing.

UST Global pays that for BofA modifications
Clients have docs prior to your arrival - in and out 10 minutes - the drive to drop the package is longer than the actual signing...
Nice fillers if they're "on the way" to something else. As a standalone they're not profitable for me out here.

I think it depends on the modification... if it's one of those 7-page BofA ones... I would have done it for $40, no problem. It's not a full-on loan package... more like a general notary appointment.

I wouldn't travel any more then 5 miles for a modification for $40.00. Anything more then that and you eat up your time in traveling to and fro.

I think the distance depends on where you are. If I still lived in the SFV of Los Angeles... then 15 miles of travel would never fly for $40. That could take 30-40 minutes of driving each way. No way would I do that unless I was in the area for something else.
But where I live now? 15 miles of driving? That's the same as going to the grocery store... and with wide open rural roads, that's nothing.

A mod is usually so quick to do that you barely have time to get the chair warm... Don't be so quick to turn these down, as long as you can fit them into your schedule and the mileage is not unreasonable. It is NOT a full signing - takes about 10 minutes, and they almost always send the docs directly to the borrower so you just have to show up.

Like Marian, I view loan mods as just general notary work (GNW). All of the one's I've done, the borrowers call me themselves. They already have the paperwork - I just show up, notarize two or four signatures (depending on whether a spouse is signing too) and collect the money (notarization fee + travel) from the borrowers. I've never done a loan mod thru an SS or from the TC directly.

Beware of accepting them as "fillers"
UST won't pay if the borrower reviews the thing and decides not to sign, which happened to me several times. I don't take them anymore. Jessica

Re: Beware of accepting them as "fillers"
UST also use to pay $50 for these and decided to take it down to $40. Pretty soon they'll be offering $30.. I won't take them anymore.
