Apple IPhone
I have a new Apple IPhone 3g and I find it very confusing. I have signed up for a free Apple workshop for beginners. I would like to know if anyone has had experience with these workshops and if they are helpful??

Going from a dialing/talking phone to a smart phone is pretty difficult for someone who has dialed and talked, but little else with a phone for 50+ years.
The IPhone will be a huge jump for people who go straight there with no smart phone experience. However, I suspect it will be a lot easier to learn for a novice smart phone owner, than another smart phone.
I put my iPad in my mom's hands over Christmas. She caught on amazingly fast with no computer experience, but she could not have done so without me showing her and coaching her. She's 79. I think that the class that Pat refers to will help her a lot.

Mine came with a great accessory.
My 14 year old grandson. He kept saying,"Oh that's easy, Gaga" tap tap tap.. See? I replied , "Huh??" But I am getting the hang of it. I have now mastered nearly 2% of what the thing can do.

Re: Mine came with a great accessory.
You might be able to get by with an accessory even younger. Our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter showed her granddad how to use the I-Pad so he could play Angry Birds. She already knows how to move her finger across the screen to see the "next thing" or get into the next "app".

Hey Pat, I'd be happy to help you out
Pat, I'm happy to help you out--i'm in WA too (near SeaTac Airport). I use an Iphone 4, and have for about a year and a half. I really like it. I agree, it took some getting used to. In the OS 5 upgrade last month, it seems a lot of the button settings moved around (arrgh!) But I use my phone to do a lot of things (Netflix, Web browsing and those annoying online completion reports, printing, geolocation ("where's the nearest Fedex") and all kinds of cool stuff.
My number is in my profile, call anytime if you need a hand! Oh, and I've got a 13 year old that can help out whenever I'm not around. ;-)
