Inky Closings

I'm having no success in getting them to pay me for a signing I did for them on Oct. 28th. It was to have been a 30 day payout. Around 35 days, I sent an email requesting payment and got no response. About a week later I phoned to ask where my check was and was told by whoever answered the phone that it was, 'On Joan's desk and just needs to be signed.' She was, however, not in the office at that time. I requested that she be given a message from me that her payment was late. I also requested that she notify me when it went out. I was assured that she would get that message. Never heard anything. A few days later I emailed again, asking if it had been sent and if not, when would it be. Again, no response. It's now over 6 weeks from signing and still no check.

Interesting how demanding they are timewise when to comes to me doing their signings (ie promptness for appointment time, immediate docs back via Fed. Ex., if not by fax., call them, email them, etc.)

What happens to all that rigid timing when it comes to them sending me my check?

My New Years resolution is to never work for another signing company unless they pay up front into my Pay Pal account. The chances of them doing that are slim to none, but I'd rather not have the work at all rather than to have to chase dead beats like Inky Closings.

I did a purchase for her on 9/16 and was paid 11/7.

Linda, are you located in a rural area and one of a few notaries servicing your territory? If so, then you'll be needed again soon, so the SS is foolish not to pay you promptly. Those in saturated cities, where there's a larger pool of notaries to stiff aren't so lucky and have to fight every crumb.

Location and size of notary pool is KEY when a few notaries get paid, but most don't <though this thread just started, but that's usually how it goes - of 10 posts on the issue, seven notaries did not get paid while three did).

I too agree with you both on that. I am in a rural area and although there are several of us, it is not saturated like a big city. It was my 1st with her and I deserved more than I got for what I had to do (leave and return because of the borrower not having an ID with her or a check for the RE agent.) I stuck it out and got it done with a little extra, not much, but a little.

Be aggressive with your collection techniques. Contact the title company on the job, verify the loan closed (be prepared with title file # when calling), and see if they can assist you in securing payment from Inky Closings. For good collection techniques, see messages from sue_pa:

Feel your pain. Deadline came and went for monies and the oops sorry check never arrived either. Yep, I'm in a saturated area.

My experience with Joan at Inky Closings

Joan is sweet as pie when she needs your services and quickly turns into a wolf after you've done your work. She needed me for a last-minute job and when she sent over the confirmation, it had attachments that I was to sign and fax back agreeing to all her terms of service. I immediately called and said NO CAN DO! I do not sign agreements with signing services and maybe she needed to find another signing agent.

She needed my services so she agreed to forego having me sign all her junk. Well...after I successfully performed the signing, she then calls me to tell me she was going to hold my check until I signed her agreements. I reminded her that she had agreed that I would be paid without having to sign her agreements.

Do you know what she did? SHE HUNG UP ON ME! I called her back, she didn't answer, so I left a voicemail reminding her of our agreement. I sent her a collection letter a month later and did eventually get paid.

People like Joan at Inky need to be put out of our misery.

Re: My experience with Joan at Inky Closings

I also did a signing for her last year and I promised myself to not take anymore from her. I had to struggle to approve my fee and then emails to get paid. Not worth it.

Re: Inky Closings-Update on original post.

Just got this email from them a few min's ago. They claim they sent my check out with no address on it...Can you imagine!? ....I can't. Anyway, I wonder if it was the BBB report or my review of them here that prompted the response.

"We apologize for not getting back to you. Yes, your check went out...however, it came back to us in the mail today. Apparently, it went out without a street address. Our checks are addressed based on your profile in Notary Café. In our haste to get your check out, we did not notice that the address was incomplete. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. We have corrected the error and it is going out in the mail, again today.

Thank you for your patience,

Laura

I'll update if/when I get paid.

Update on Inky Closingsl post.

Here's my update as well.

Dec. 15th

Your check has been sent to you. We will not be issuing payment twice.

Our company has never left a Signing Agent unpaid, and you will not be the first.
Your invoice was in our normal issue cycle of 30 days, not . . . . When you called, we began the process of pulling your invoice to place it with the next cycle of checks to be issued.

Your check has been ordered, printed, recorded, double checked, signed and mailed. We apologize for any inconvenience this delay may have caused you. The check for payment should be "in hand" ASAP, . . .

(FYI: Note terms and conditions including the cycle payment issue were discussed via phone and agreed to in writing., and the oversight payment was to have been mailed out 12-8-11 per pc with Joan, and as of 12-14-11 staff said on 12-13-11 Joan questioned payment terms, etc. , she verified the terms, and as of 12 13 it was not in process mode) When the check comes and then clears, I’ll let you know.

Thank you NROT for saving me another headache! $75 for an edocs refi to drive an hour one way into BFE, when my usual fee for that county is $125-150 for my good companies! No thanks! Especially with their recent bad reviews and this thread. Thanks again NROT!

Wow, I'm surprised at the latest ratings for them in SC.

I have completed 4 signings for INKY and was paid at 30 days each time.
