Resume' Any ideas for NSA's?
Hi all you helpful notaries.
I have been asked to provide a resume', something I haven't done in years and years and am a little baffled at putting one together as a notary signing agent. I am 63 and don't really want to have to go back to listing education since that was so long ago. I have been a NSA for almost eight years.
Thank you to anyone who has written a resume' recently as a NSA and has some ideas.

I'd go along the line of: Customer Service Oriented (if you are) detail oriented I would have a resume that reflected your character, rather than work experience/education, since it has been awhile. Think of all that you've gained through your work experience. You are sensitive to the timeliness of loan documents. You are also sensitive to the confidentially of the borrowers. Do up a draft, then "fine tune" it. It will come across real, describing your character - which is so important in this industry. Since you have been a Signing Agent for almost eight years, think of what highlights your work, ethically speaking. Put it on paper - fine tune it once you have a rough draft. I hope this makes sense. Stephanie

I would provide a typed narrative of my experience
Sort of like a detailed profile - Notary for XX years, former real estate closing paralegal for XX years; people friendly, detail oriented with xx years experience as a signing agent closing a variety of loans such as blah blah blah
List certifications, accreditations, memberships...
At this stage of the game I wouldn't be providing a full resume - I'm an independent contractor, not an employee.

I agree Linda,
Mine is more of a C.V. than a resume - I am a business owner/independent contractor, I am not applying for an employment position.

Re: I agree Linda,
My thoughts exactly. I prefer to think of it as a bio - and they might be expecting to see something along the same lines, but just didn't know what to call it. I think I would choose to interpret it that way regardless. They're not going to put me on the payroll and pay me benefits. They're just hiring an independent contractor and only need to know what is pertinent to my experience and know-how with the work being contracted out.

Dear Lucky: I think we're not "interviewing," or even
"applying" for a paid position as an employee - requiring one's life-works up for scruitiny.
On the other hand, developing a short/apt summary of one's Road to NotaryLand, is a very do-able bonus for a Killer Resume writer.
