Shipping advice for this year's "newbies"

Every year there are postings concerning surprises when it comes to shipping schedules by Fedex, UPS and others.

Just because the national Fedex or UPS website says their shipping schedule is "X" does not mean it's actually so, especially for those in rural areas. Cutoff times will vary and even an extra day or two can be removed from the local office's shipping schedule, depending on travel times and distances to the nearest airport that your shipper flies from. If your area has an exception to the national schedule, then the person that hires you needs to know. The people who hire you won't know or even care what your local shipping schedule changes (if any) are. Be sure you CYA.

So get on the horn, or better yet, visit the local office (or drop box if you must use one, I personally hate those) and find out the cut off times and the actual local shipping schedule .....

INFO FOR FEDEX IN NORTHERN ILLINOIS

Some offices will be open Saturday, but nothing will ship after Friday from the sites; in other words, the last pickup on Friday will ship and arrive on Tuesday, anything dropped off Saturday arrives Wednesday per the district office here.
I have no info for UPS.
