Split signing

Four names on a quit claim deed. Two couples in different states. I have the first couple to sign. I am going to cross out the second couples signature. The second couples notary has to add their own certificate. Is this being done right?

I think you mean you are going to cross out the second couples "names" not signatures. Just clarifying. Don't forget to initial the cross out.

Linda is right! Don't cross out their signature lines - just cross their names out of your notary certificate. The second notary can add their own loose certificate.

Same here and if shipping the docs directly to the second

party to sign, I will print an extra copy of the document's certificate page when it is a page all of its own, as a courtesy to the next notary.

I meant cross out the second couples names from the notary certificate not signature lines.
