Affiant Nationwide Signing, Arizona

called w/signing on Monday, 2/14 at 9 or 10 am. They offer $85 for edocs. I advise my base edoc fee is $125. She says they're not even getting that much and can I work w/her. She needs to find someone as her usual notary is not available that day.

She then offers to overnight 1 set of docs to borrowers and I print 1 set for $100. Ok, that'll work if there's nothing else involved -- no faxbacks, etc. She won't know 'til Friday. 2/11. Now, she's fast-talking saying she'll send over confirmation for $95 with o/docs. No, I say slowly. $100 for 1 set o/doc to borrowers and no faxbacks. She then says, "Yolanda, you're just too difficult to work with. Have a good day!" and hangs up.

They used to be a decent signing service until they caved in and shilled themselves out for dog food, thus lowering our fees. When they started this nonsense, I told them it had been very nice working for them but to please remove me from their call list. Haven't regretted it.

This has become such a trend with so many SS's and what they're doing is biting off their nose to spite their face. They're falling into this big dark hole and they're trying to drag us down into the pit with them. I also got a call the other day from an SS and stated my fee of $125. Their answer was that is what they receive from the title company. I didn't haggle, whatsoever, I just don't want to waste my breath. By summertime, gas will be $4.00/gal and by the end of the year probably closer to $5.00. My rates are going up, not down.

Yes, so true,...not to mention the fact that it cost $3.00 to park at a 1 hour parking meter.

And how about $25 to park at a resort hotel...for self-parking, NOT valet.

If I am asked to meet with someone who is here on vacation, one of the first things I ask is the name of the hotel so I can check out the parking situation. I cannot afford to absorb this in my fee, so have had to increase my fee by this amount when the signing location requires it.

There is no way I can accept the low-ball offers of most SS when the signing requires payment of a parking fee.

I think there is more than one person named Woody...but I will honor your request when it comes to you in particular.

Get real James. Why on earth would you call out another notary when he is not even involved in the thread?? What's up with that?

Well I actually was making my comment to say you would NOT got it either but obvious you misinterpreted what I meant, that is as real as I can get. I apologize if I caused you some discomfort. My intent was to show solidarity.

I had another SS call me recently and said they were trying to keep their fees paid out (to SA) lower than $130. I laughed and told her I understand, I'm trying to keep my fees closer to $150 (for a local, reg, small package refi, w/ no fax backs).

I agree that with gas going up my prices may have to start including a "fuel surcharge" to cover the increased cost. LOL They must think our local gas stations just give us gas for free because we are so cute. Smile

I've worked with them a few times & never had a problem.

They pay a lower fee but pkgs. were really small. I've also never had a problem getting paid from them.

When it comes to getting paid for the work we do, and not getting the shaft, we are all difficult to work with! You go Yolanda!
