LocateNotary.com

Has anybody heard of this notary directory? Are they legit? They charge $25 a year.

I signed up with them a couple months ago and haven't received any hits from it. :-(

I discovered into the first & second year of this that

advertising on those sites is a waste of money. I never got any biz except from the major sites.

This and other sites (normally newbies that do ot last long), are often mentioned when they send their notices (ads). It seems the majority of opinions equal that of MW/VA above, including mine............

It depends on what you mean by "legit". Yes, they will post your info in their directory. Whether anyone will bother going there to find a notary is another question altogether.

Stick with the established web sites (such as this one) when it comes to spending your advertising dollars - you will definitely get more bang for the buck. Most of these smaller "directory" websites are nothing more than a way to separate you from your money - unless they can show a proven track record, they're not worth a second look.

When I receive an invitation to join a notary directory, I do a search in my zip code to see who is listed. Usually, there's just a few or in most cases, there isn't anyone. A SS or TC isn't going to bother with such slim pickings.

Another way to evaluate them is to put yourself in the shoes of someone who might be looking for someone like you. If you do a Google search for yourself under a variety of possibilities, will that site show up anywhere? If you're not finding them, it's unlikely anyone else will either...

Like JanetK and the others, a little research will be very beneficial. Use any search engine type in Notary. notary public, notaries public, mobile notary, etc and look at the sites that come up on the first page. Second page and on is a waste of time and money. IMO

One more thing about other notary directories

Some of them will say that they market directly to title companies, etc. and not to do by what you see in a search. Well, if you were a title co or ss, which sites would you go to? Probably the ones with the highest likelihood of finding the kind of person you're looking for in the area you are looking. IMO, that means one of the top few with the most listings... unless they're looking for notaries who will work for low-ball fees, in which case, who cares!

Re: LocateNotary.com...my response from the other thread

I pay for 3 listings - of my multiple other listings I pay one for my website and that's it -

There are far too many free advertising opportunities for me to even consider paying all these other websites to list with them (I get daily e-mails inviting me to join)..
