MW/VA - Lawsuit over the word, "Footlong"
http://tacticalip.com/2011/02/20/some-love-for-the-noble-footlong/
An Iowa-based convenience store has asked a federal judge to rule that the word “footlong” is part of the general English language and not the special property of the Subway restaurant chain. Casey’s General Stores Inc. sued Subway essentially for permission to call their 12-inch-long sandwiches “footlongs” without fear of a Subway lawsuit.

Oh, please....the word footlong was in use long before Subway was even born. We used to buy footlong hotdogs back in the 60s.

I didn't get the impression that her "oh please" comment was directed at you, but rather at Subway, for what seems to some of us to be a ridiculous lawsuit. That's how I read it, anyway.

Yes, that's how I read the response, too. n/m

"I Wish I Hadn't Said That" for $400, Alex:
What is: "Footlong: the length of the proverbial "foot" in one's mouth."
