Your reply was appropriate.

I would have responded the same way to this request.

Did they contact the borrower directly to get this resolved? Do you know if the loan funded?

Re: Your reply was appropriate.

If you haven't heard anything else from them, I would assume it was taken care of.

Wasn't the email with the "missed" document attached addressed to the borrower? They may have copied you on it hoping you would think it was your responsibility to get it done.

Obviously, you did not fall for it.

Re: What Would You have Done?

I think what you wrote was fine and appropriate.

Transtar title used to be one of my favs, but will not meet my fees anymore. I also have issues with how they over charge the BO a notary fee which is so NOT what they pay their NSA's for the closing...sneaky.

Re: What Would You have Done?

This is just me....but I consider TranStar National Title to be a 7 star company - even if a doc was left out of the original edoc file and not a doc I failed to get signed, I would still fall all over myself trying to take care of what they need. There's only one other company I'd do that for and that is the mortgage broker I personally know and networked with in the past. His signings start at $150 and go up. He prints both sets of docs, I pick them up from his office, get them signed - notarize - then return them to his office. JMHO

Re: What Would You have Done?

Why did they not call?

Even if I had not been on bed rest-I am out now because I am sick of being in bed! Whoever invented "bedrest"? I do not sit at my computer all day watching my email.

what if I had been out on closings all day? It has happened.

I too consider TanStar a 7 star company and this method of handling this was below what they normally do.

Re: What Would You have Done?

I think your response is correct. A missed doc that doesn't require notarization is usually best handled directly with the borrower. IMO, you didn't need to tell them that you were on bed-rest. I think just saying you weren't available would have been ok. I also like working with TranStar & have never had a problem with them.

Re: What Would You have Done?

<<<Why did they not call?>>>

A lot of people have the web on their cell phone and maybe they thought you'd get notice on your phone.

<<<what if I had been out on closings all day? It has happened.>>>

Then they'd just have to wait until you fit it in your schedule. I've had last minute requests that were not part of the original order - faxbacks. I told the scheduler that if the request was part of the original order, I would have faxed the docs the same evening after the signing so the TC would have them first thing in the morning but because the request was the next day and I was at work, they'd have to wait until I returned home in the afternoon. They weren't happy but it was their fault for not making the request part of the original order.

You can only do what you can do.

To Clarify....

The incident described in the previous post was with a different company, not TranStar.

Re: What Would You have Done?

I probably would have kept it to myself since I would have known I was correct. And apparently you did know you were correct; just looking for affirmation. We would have given you comfort and support w/o the email attachment.

It is a shame that everybody now knows the Dover's name, lender, and loan number.

This is a clear breach of confidentiality.

I know you are not feeling well; but did you really have to post the lender's email and borrower's information? I think you could have asked the question without the posting of the confidential information.

Please do not take offense to my response to you, instead use this experience as a lesson in proof reading and keeping borrower's/lender's information confidential.
Fell better soon
Respectfully, S

Was this post edited, or am I totally missing it all?

I don't see any breach of privacy, but what I also don't see is anyone asking you, Mary Ellen, to do anything. All I see is that you were asked about the tracking of the pkg, and then you were cc'd on an e-mail that was directed at the borrower.

I'm confused. (It's pretty much a normal state, nothing you had anything to do with!)

Not edited - refer to the OP. It refers to BO name and loan #.

Mary Ellen's very first sentence

"Names have been changed of borrower"

Re: Was this post edited, or am I totally missing it all?

Nope, that is not the BO's name or loan number.

I started changing it and was not consistent in the changes I made. It was edited.

Re: Was this post edited, or am I totally missing it all?

The BO's email is not on the emails at all.

I am beginning to think it was a mistake as I have received no response and they did mean to send it to the BO's.

Mary, so you voluntarily deleted the posting, even though

there was no mention of the real BO or their loan info??

Re: Mary, so you voluntarily deleted the posting, even though

Yes, I did not want anyone else to think that. Better to avoid controversy, especially when not needed. Th Notary Now thing is something worth creating controversy over--not my obviously wrong assumption. (hindsight is 20-20 and all that)

And I do believe it was a mistake they sent it to me as I never got a response to the email I sent them.

But the BOs email was not in the To or CC fields. It could have been in the BCC by accident.

Like I said--I would have actually loved to have gone back out to this couple's home--beautiful people.

I was changing the name by several letters and the number was just what I happened to hit to replace what was there. Then changed my mind to just put in "BO ___name" When I started doing that I missed one I had already changed already.

My biggest concern was that I had thought they were saying I messed up when that page was not in original pkg. As they never contacted me back, I had assumed too quickly.
