Unfortunately our SOS could care less about notaries. We don't have a Handbook because when I asked the SOS about getting one she said that we applied for our commission thru the Probate Judge's office and the names were sent to her office and were put in a data base and that was the only obligation her office had. I had our local newspaper interview me and she read the article and she blasted me and now she and her staff will not answer my emails or letters or speak to me over the phone..
I've talked to my State Representative and next month when the Legislature is in session he will introduce a bill to raise what we can charge for notarizations which is now $1.50 and has been that since the 1940's.
I had contacted over 200 signings agents and told them what I wanted to do and asked them to contact their legislatures and do you know how many backed me up. Right - ZERO.
I thank anything will do as long as you have Subscrbed and sworn to before me or Sworn to before me etc.... I think just anything that looks good will fly. I wish I could help you more.
We have an Alabama Code which she calls a Handbook which tells us almost nothing. So anything that is good in any state, I guess is good in Alabama.
