The car is buried!
Here in Tulsa, the last official report of snowfall is 12". However, snow drifts have almost completely buried my husband's sedan. I can still see the top of my van, but it's disappearing too.
Don't know when I'll be able to uncover the sidewalk, much less the cars and driveway to move around. They say it's going to stay below freezing for the next 3 days. Can't wait til Saturday when it will be 40 degrees!

the wind is howling something fierce now!!!!
I'm on the North side of Chicago and its ugly! No city public school for the kids tomorrow...its been YEARS since they actually close down...only a blizzard like this would do it...
We've got great neighbors, everyone's pitching in helping each other with the shoveling...even car spots...in Chicago...its absolutely TABOO to take someone elses "clean" parking spot. If someone does, they are almost guaranteed a flat tire or broken window...around here, they just don't care! I'm going to take some video in a minute....see if I can some pics of all the lawn furniture out on my street...!

Don't know if the prairie dog at the zoo (our version of Phil) will even be able to dig out of his den here.
Update from weatherman-- 7 degrees below zero wind chill right now. Expecting double digits below overnight. I guess we've become Alaska South.

Clicked off too soon. COME WEST YOUNG WOMAN. I know snow is mesmerizing and restful, but limiting. My relatives start getting snow crazy in South Dakota about April and make a trip to the Grand Canyon for Spring Break, then to CA for a change of pace. Both my parents grew up in South Dakota. My mother never returned tor reside there after coming to west coast, Dad retired in FL....I can do short spurts. Good time to rest and watch the flakes!

Been there, done that - we've had over 3 feet of this stuff since the beginning of the year, and that was after a blizzard the day after Christmas left us with about 15". Very unusual for this area; we average about 30" for the entire winter, but we got more than that in a single month, and February is just starting....
There's no place left to put the snow (piles at least 10 feet high in the parking lots of my complex here). Today we're just getting ice, which is different but not exactly better. At least we're equipped to deal with it; I feel sorry for those folks in areas that normally don't get much snow.

Waiting for our share
My sympathies to you folks just south and west of here, particularly in Chicago (I was born in Decatur and lived in Kankakee). I know you're getting hit brutally. We're getting light snow now with the main storm starting here after midnight, projected up to 18". But we're so used to it, we just kinda take it in stride. Gassed up the snowblower and generator (just in case), wood for the woodstove, and just hunker down for the duration. Turned down 2 calls this evening, one for tonight and one for Thursday, when we will still be digging out.

Be safe everyone. It sounds like this latest storm is going
to pack a wallop. I'm glad I'm not living in PA anymore. The shifting high & low pressures are supposed to bring us temps in the upper 60's tomorrow. Otherwise, it's been colder than normal here in so. VA this year also.

Went into 5pm signing all was well- came out 27 minutes
later and it was a blizzard, bad visibility and had to drive 20 mph all the way home. I knew the snow was going to start about about 6pm....I had 3 orders to do back-to-back this afternoon. Dropped 2 of them... they are not tracking. One had fax backs....so I have no idea when they will get their packages.
Stay warm and safe everyone!!!!!! Just say NO tomorrow and clear your schedule!!!!!

Down to -45 wind chill in western KS
We had wind chills today down as low as -45. Just maybe 3" of snow down in western KS, but eastern KS got blasted. We have drifts in our backyard 1' high from 3" of snow. I'm staying inside, making eggrolls, bread, and cookies. Might as well heat up the house and make it smell good!!!!! Have a brisket ready to pop in the oven tomorrow to bake for 5 hours. Dog doesn't even want to go out!!!!!!!!!
