Cogent Closing Associates, LLC
I would like to get a petition going or a class action lawsuit to stop these deadbeats from doing business and to keep them from robbing services from us!! I am tired of using my gas, my paper, my ink, wear and tear on my machines, and last but not least my time. How dare they screw us of our pay!

One avenue you can try is doing some research online and finding out which title insurance company Cogent is appointed with. I know that info is online here in VA but not sure about GA. Once you find out who has appointed Cogent, try contacting them to complain about failure to fulfill contractual obligations for services that the borrower has paid for. Try contracting Cogent's regulatory agency (Bureau of Insurance?) and complain about the same thing - failure to fulfill contractual obligations. Also, see if you can find out who the registered agent is for Cogent. Many title companies are owned by attorneys. If so, you can file a complaint with the state bar for failure to fulfill contractual obligations - that will get the attorney's attention!

Dawn - I never let any company build up a "tab" - "credit"
with me where I am at a point of losing money. I suppose I am fortunate enough to work for many companies, so I am not dependent on any ONE company for payment. If I don't receive payment in a timely manny, I do not continue to accept assignments from them. Perhaps that is why I am paid regularly. I would feel I was in business with no business plan to be "out payment", I don't know - from the start, I set high business standards; I have avoided "deadbeats" - thank goodness.

Re: Dawn - I never let any company build up a
Well i have only accepted two signing from them, first one I was paid for in a timely manner, however, I business was slow at the time but I was reluctant because of threads I have read on them. They pleated and promised and i fell for it on the second one. I would never do for them again.

Cogent has had a negative reputation for several years now. There are plenty of comments on this forum as well as in Signing Central regarding them. From now on, if you're not familiar with a company, make it a point to look up the comments and ratings of that company. If they have a reputation for not paying or paying very slow, call them back and decline the signing. Check out the comments now, by going to the orange search button, to read what others have done to collect their fees from Cogent.

I agree with Doris
One of the things I just love to do, is to take a signing, look the company up on Signing Central and if I see that they are deadbeats, call them up and tell them to find someone else to do the signing.
I let them know that I looked them up and found out that they don't pay their notaries. I get a certain satisfaction out of striking back when it hasn't cost me anything.

I like that idea and will definitely utilize it in the future. Thank you.
