Lynn, forgive me for asking this question:
It's the first place I have to go when someone posts about a computer problem.
Are all the programs on your computer completely up to date? Have you scanned for spyware and viruses and cleared the caches on all your web browsers?
Next, are these PDF documents? Are you opening them and trying to print them through a web browser? If so, try saving them to your disk first, then open Adobe in stand alone mode then open the documents and try printing. Both Firefox and Google Chrome's latest updates have prevented me from using the duplex unit on my Brother 5150. Could be they are having an effect on your printer driver. (Having issues after a program updates is no reason not to do updates. They will fix it with another update. When an update is an issue, thousands of not millions of geeks let them know. Updates are very important to keep current from a security standpoint especially now that other operating systems are now being attacked, not just Windows.)
If that doesn't work, try uninstalling your printer driver, do a hard reboot (turn off the power, not just by using the "restart" function). Turn computer back on, re-install your drivers and printer, print a test page, then do another hard restart. When you just use the "restart" function, some mother board models can still hold "funky" files in RAM. On some models, you even need to turn off your surge protector or pull the plug completely to completely clear the RAM.
Also, think about the last thing you did or last program you updated or installed prior to having this issue. Frequently, programs can conflict with each other and you simply have to just go to "msconfig" and make sure that program doesn't start when your computer starts.
Now you may get advice to use the 'restore' function and at some times, that is valid, however, to me that is the panic button only to be used as a last resort. While it can fix an issue, it also recycles old files and can cause more problems than it solves. Recycling household waste is good. Old computer files, not so much.
Hope this helps.
