I just received my first cartridge from Monoprice.com
I normally order from LD Products but started trying out other companies when they began having quality issues during this last year. I received the Monoprice cartridge last Friday, which even with shipping fees was approximately $10 cheaper than what I normally pay at LD. The cartridge was the same type I have received from LD many times - the white box with the rainbow logo in the corner. LD seems to oscillate between supplying cartridges with the rainbow logo box and those that are labeled with the LD Products name.

Wow..let me know how this goes for you Linda
My cartridges are cheaper, shipping is a bit higher than the company I'm using now, but the total comes out about $15 less ....

What company are you using? What does LD stand for?

Re: I've been ordering from Monoprice since last year
and have never had a problem. I'm lucky enough to have them 20 minutes from my house, so I can place an order in the morning and pick up in the late afternoon. Prices are great! They sell a lot of other items too.

I also tried Mono price a few months back but didn't have a good experience. One day I had a busy day lined up, so for some reason (good gut instinct?) I decided to print out a status page before I started printing packages. It showed a little over 50% capacity left, which should be about 3500-4,500 pages based on what I usually get from my printer. I printed about 3 full sets of docs that day which couldn't have been more than 1,000 pages worst case, but I ran out of toner before I finished. Also, usually when I'm running out, my printer starts giving me warnings (like it's been doing all day today... ), then finally stops printing when there isn't enough toner (after a few shakes). But with that cartridge, it kept going, even though the pages weren't printing clearly enough to read and I ended up wasting lots of paper.
The cartridge purchase price was much cheaper than the ones I got from LD Products, but not ANY cheaper once I calculated how much usage I got from it. So, I'm back with LD Products. To their credit, though, when I contacted Mono Price about the problem, they got right back to me and asked me if I'd be OK with a credit of a certain amount without having to worry about returning the cartridge (for which I got Staples rewards points for recycling...) Worked for me. Maybe it was just bad luck, but it was too much of a hassle for me to take another chance.
I've also noticed that LD products has been offering various e-mail promotions. I don't know if they're just stepping up their marketing or if they've been feeling the pinch. Sometimes they've offered discounts on a certain order amount, other times free shipping.

It seems like no matter where we order from, we will get a dud now and then. Some people swear by ordering on Amazon - I had a bad experience with that. Barely got 150 pages out of the cartridge before it started streaking the pages. The seller was not too happy about taking the cartridge back but he did. The thing that got me with the Monoprice purchase is that I received the exact same cartridge that LD sends me (white box with rainbow logo in corner) but paid $10 less for it. Had I ordered more than one, the savings would have been more.
I've had problems with several LD cartridges. At least twice I have received a cartridge that immediately gave me the low toner message after installation. I sent the first one back. The second one I just kept it and used it - it lasted as long as it should have even though it gave me the low toner message the entire time.
Janet I'm glad to hear that Monoprice was good to work with when you had an issue with their cartridge. I ordered one cartridge from private Abacus and it worked fine for me, but someone else has posted that they had issues with their products and Private Abaucs was not friendly about the return. I don't need those hassles.

One more thing - my HP printer recognized the Monoprice cartridge as a genuine HP cartridge.

Yes, mine too, and if I remember correctly, we have the same printer. My last order from LD (2 cartridges to take advantage of some deal) the boxes were different, no mention of LD products anywhere. Just printed a status page which shows 1% left with 7479 pages printed. Not too bad!
Since you're getting the exact same box from Monoprice as what you were getting from LD Products, maybe I'll give the former another try next time I order. As I recall, the savings were pretty significant.
Thanks for the update!
