Inspections for E-Notaries
Have any of you worked for E-Notaries before? They keep emailing me asking if I will do an inspection (take pictures of a property) and mail the pictures back. "It will only take 5 minutes!" Guess what they offered to pay for one an hour away. $10.00 Yes $10.00. I called and asked if that was a misprint and was informed it was not. $10.00 is all they could pay. I told them take me off their list and not email me with an offer like that again. $10.00 would not pay for the gas one way, much less for my time, pictures and postage.

I've gotten this also. But here is the real kicker. If they are offering $10 payment and everyone laughs and scoffs, yet they continue with the $10 offer - does this mean there are those who actually do it for 10 bucks?

I agree, Rich. I believe that also applies to those in the forum that continually bad mouth anyone who accepts low paying notary assignments. Obviously, when someone turns them down they just dial up the next person and so on. Sooner or later someone accepts the assignment. Those that turned it down may be able to walk proud but they still made zero income. Profit is profit, regardless of how slim. I certainly don't advocate doing a job and taking a loss on it unless it may lead to more assignments. You just never know. If someone can make some profit on a $10 job then so be it. Many years ago I did those assignments for Equifax in San Jose, CA. I had a backlog of 3 to 4 weeks doing 8 to 10 of those inspections a day. Money can be made if the volume is there.

All due respct....but....
Unless I can sit right here in my jammies, take the photos, fire up my 'puter and upload the info while sucking down my coffee, tea, soda or whatever, there is NO profit to be made being paid $10/job. Gas, time and TAXES suck that up 5 minutes out the gate and all profit is gone.

First of all, this isn't notary work, so the fee issue isn't
about our profession. They frequently market field inspection work to notaries, and there are some who do it. From what I understand, most of it pays $25 or under. Might be ok for a student or retiree who wants a "hobby", but it isn't attractive to me as a business venture.
