Missed opportunity of a lifetime...

Around 9:30 Saturday morning I was in a doctor's appointment when my cell phone rang. Because I was in with the doctor I didn't answer my phone. The caller was from Tampa, FL and did not leave a message. I decided to return the call and the caller confirmed that he did call me and was at the airport along with 179 other missionaries arriving in town to go down to Mexico for a week to complete a mission. He told me he had already found someone and he or she would be arriving at the airport in 20 minutes to notarized documents for the group. The majority of the group needed one form notarized before departing for Mexico. Let's say 100 people needed a single document notarized at $10 per signature. Well, you can do the math, while I hang my head in sorrow.

OMG I hate when that happens! Last time I had a dentist appt, I scheduled it at 8 AM so as to greatly minimize the chance it would conflict with any closings. I thought I was pretty safe with 8 AM. Nope! Of course I got a call for that time slot!

Ouch! So sorry.

I used to change my phone greeting to something like: I'm available for appts. all day, I'm with the dentist right now and will call you back ASAP .... then, when I'd call back an hour later, they'd say they moved on to the next notary anyway .... Boo!

Re: Sounds like you needed Linda Green ROFLMAO

I think it's funny... the first thing that crossed my mind when OP outlined the job was: how are you going to do even 100 ID/journal entry-signed/sign,notarize/collect fee before the plane leaves?
It's not like you just stamp, stamp, stamp and poof 100 are done.

I don't think she understood I as addressing OP and the fact that I COULDN'T have done that many either unless the plane was gonna wait for me, 2 days.

Wait! Why isn't it funny?

Linda Green is a robo-signer.

That is funny...she could robo through it.

I have not known James to be indiscriminately mean. What did I miss.

Missionaries were arriving in CA from FL

to stay overnight and then leave (via Charter bus) for Mexico. The participants were all arriving at the airport at the same time and were going to be in different hotels. They requested a notary meet them at the airport because all of the participants would be there at the same location at that time.

I would have brought 2 other notaries with me to expedite the process. I think the person they hired was only 1 notary.

Since the 2 notaries I would have brought were my husband and my son, it would have all stayed in the family ;-)

So sorry you missed this opportunity, hopefully something even better will come along. I can't believe a couple of the comments were negative.

Thanks Pam, I'm sure the negative comments...

were due to a misunderstanding and my original posting just stating the plane was arriving, some people didn't pick up on it and 'assumed' everyone was waiting at the airport to leave and go to Mexico.

I know everyone is doing their personal best to honor PAW and not be negative.

Another point of view I like to consider, too, is...

Maybe that other person needed the money more than you did. It may not be the most comforting, but when a situation is out of my hands, it makes it easier for me to accept that way...lol

......"DOPE!"

wow, sorry Maggie. But at least they have your number now. In fact, if I were you, I'd call them when they come back, and send thema flyer of your services, and checkin with them frequently to see if they're going back down there again...anytime soon...you might just get lucky!
