Monday Morning Vent
225 pgs, plus instructions and confirmation to print. Included in the 225 pp was not one, not two, not three but FIVE 1003's! Plus 5 separate HUD/VA apps since it's a VA loan. AND there was a 22 pg Consumer Information package at the end of it all for me to print. Called hiring party and they agreed to increase my fee, but holy cow! What a huge waste! Do they really need all that? OK, sorry. I got my fee. But it just seems so wasteful. I'll be quiet now. Thanks for letting me vent

Sorrry for your frustration and I couldn't agree with you more. Even the escrow instructions seem excessive. I really hate it when I have to print the appraisals, pictures and all. What a waste of toner, plus the borrowers slow way down to look them over - grrrr.

I set the appraisal and borrowers' copies aside until the docs are signed. Then I present them to the borrowers while I quickly double check for signatures on the docs.

Agreed. I've started looking through large packages in advance for copies of the appraisal. I feel this is something that should be provided to the borrower (before the closing) separately from the loan docs. In fact, most of the time, I've found that the borrowers already have a copy. When I see that included, I usually ask the borrowers if they have a copy yet and if not, if they would prefer an electronic copy. I can't think of a single case where they wanted me to print it for them. If they don't have it yet, I either email it or bring it on a thumb drive, so they can have a full color copy (if that's the way it's been sent to me.)
If they wanted me to print a hard copy, I'd do it (but just once - not for title/lender set) but so far I don't remember that ever being the case.

VA loans are usually large packages..
you should see some those packages for people who are getting "first time" home owner programs where the city is underwriting some of the funding..good vent though!

I once had a package with 5 HUDS, 2 Notes, 2 Deeds (the ones that are at least 16 pages long), 12 RTCs, and 2 copies of the master closing instructions. I could barely fit all the paperwork into the return envelope! I always ask for a higher fee when I get stuck with packages like this.
