Online/webcam notarizations not legal here either
"The Office of the Attorney General warned yesterday that online webcam notarization is invalid and illegal in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. " No specific company was mentioned in the article, other than to say it was a private company.

Not legal to take place in AZ, but would be accepted here if done in a state where it is legal.

Pray tell, where might that be?
I know, I know, people are saying VA has passed the law, but I think that law, and the criteria, is VERY strict and does not just allow e-notarizations. Did I misunderstand that?

Diva, you did not misunderstand.
The criteria is quite dense. An every day Va. notary won't benefit from gearing up for that yet.

Ooops...never mind....WRONG info.
I should have read the article before I posted Linda's comments. It is "Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands" not MI.

Wow..that's amazing...
The Mariani Islands can make an adjudication about this online procedure but we can't get all of our 50 states to speak out!!

The new Handbook for Virginia Notaries Public was released
July 1. It details the difference between "Traditional Notary" & "Electronic Notary". I haven't had enough time to read through it yet, but the electronic thing is thoroughly explained. Anyone interested can get it online through the SOC office. It's interesting reading for those researching this topic.
