Question to you on this collection effort...

We have received money from two excellent signing services and a promise (phone call) by a third. I checked them in SC and verified that they are of the quality that you would expect. Would it be wrong to recognize these services, NR and one other notary related business by posting their names on my personal website?

To me, it seems that the **companies** that truly support notaries by giving of time, money and services should be recognized in this way.

I can't weigh it out on my own. I want notary opinions....so there's something to think about today.

I don't see any problem with it.

I dont see a problem with it either. They are not asking for advertising and the donation is being made in memory of Paul..Not for them to self-promote!

I will also clear it with them before I do so. It is just so touching to me that they reached out like they did...very quietly.

We will think it over carefully and make sure we do the right thing.

Absolutely! Too many SS's & TC's treat SA's like #'s, even

asking us to risk our lives & livelihoods during emergenicies! Let's acknowledge that some are made up of actual HUMAN BEINGS! Kudos to them & to all of you who are taking the time to honor PAW. Many thanks for using your skills to set up PayPals, bind the tributes, etc! You are ALL awesomely AWESOME! To reiterate: I think James' pic shud be on the binder cover - if he's ok w/ it.

What would PAW do?

This is the way I look at it. What would Paul do? There's your answer, you guys have known him way longer than me but I think I know what he would do.

The notary's standard: WWPD

Great answer, James!

I see no problem with it either and trust your judgment Brenda. If you feel that they are truly honoring Paul for the person he was to all of us, then there's no reason not to.

It's just an idea...emotions can put

perspective out of focus. I wanted input from the crowd and careful thought. It may be a terrible idea.

Okay...I have to go get my peds cured.

Will be off the radar awhile. Smile

List by donor ... including SS's ... but not $$ given. Exception might be for a significant amount, if the donor agrees. Do not include names of those who wish to be anonymous.

How about NOT listing Donor, Does it matter? Some people want to give but no doubt can't right now other wise there should be a million dollars in there now. The purpose is to recognize PAW and that's what we should concentrate on. IMO

Bad idea?

Okay. I'm good.

Not something to tangle over.

Just for the record, would never list amounts. I just felt exceedingly grateful.

Re: Bad idea?

My two cents <g>

No-one but Brenda and I (and possibly Ann -although she probably wouldn't know many of the names) need to know the names of the donors.
If the list was "published" it may make those who could not donate for any reason feel
bad.

Please let me clarify what my thinking was.

No notary donors would have been listed. Only businesses. Here is where I was going with that.

I am 100% my-business-network oriented. I do business with those that support buy locally programs and the local pet shelter, for instance.

When a cause is lifted in a hurry, it is the organizer's obligation to provide as much proper handling as possible. Things can get lost in the shuffle and I am HUGE on acknowledging businesses for contributing to a community's well being.

As a person who has done a lot of this kind of thing, I know how so many things can be discussed AFTER the fact..."They should have done this/that..."

This is not mine and Sylvia's cause. This is your cause. That is why it was put to a question on this board.

It will not happen and I am happy as a clam!

Re: Please let me clarify what my thinking was.

We in this business are all in difficult financial times. As was said some here may not be able to contribute even if they wish to. However there are some very large SS and Title Companies out there, that gross substantial amounts of revenue, and I for one would be interested to see what companies were decent enough to give something to help with the final expenses of one of the most respected Notary Signing Agent in this business. I don’t know how many companies Paul worked/with during his many years in business, but I’d guess quite a few. I for one would be curious to see which of these felt moved to contribute.

I know where you're coming from Brenda and I totally understand your concept. Having read through the various responses, the one that opened my eyes was WWPD? Thinking that over, Paul was a very generous, sharing person to every one, but as Sylvia mentioned, Paul was also a very private person. I think we should respect the privacy that I believe Paul would have wanted. The contributions are in his memory and to help Ann with expenses, not a bulletin board for all to see.
