Recording Fees on HUD....

Printing docs for a closing tomorrow and I was looking over the HUD and noticed the recording charges... $992 to record the mortgage...21 pages with riders and this is Dallas County, Texas. Did recording cost go way up???? Did I miss the memo???

Wow!

I think I might email title about that and ask about them. If the borrowers have a lick of sense then they will not sign that HUD. It is surely a mistake.

From the Dallas County Recorder's office:

"STANDARD FILING FEES: $16.00 FOR THE FIRST PAGE AND $4.00 PER PAGE THEREAFTER (PER DOCUMENT) BREAKDOWN: $5.00 FOR RECORDING, $1.00 FOR SECURITY, $5.00 RECORDS PRESERVATION and $5.00 ARCHIVING RECORDS"

There would be NO WAY in h*** I would ever ever personally pay that kind of fee for recording. $100- $150 sounds reasonable.

Just contact Escrow. Easy fix. I wouldn't get borrowers worked up over it though.

the mistake. They were surprised that the Lender didn't catch it when approving the HUD...
