Reduction of Fees
Why do these signing companies want to lower our fees when their fees are not lowered? I REFUSE TO LOWER MY FEES!

Any company that would do this is not worth your time. You are a professional providing a valuable service to the transaction.

That's the key... these are YOUR fees. If they don't want to pay your fees, then they aren't going to do business with you.

Because they think they can.
It doesn't make it so, but they still think they can.
If SS companies are not willing to pay your fees they aren't your customers. If you feel you are worth what you are charging, they shouldn't be your customers for anything lower than what you expect to be paid for the job, imo.

Because some notaries dont know any better
My fees have not been reduced this year. As a result, I'm not quite as busy as in previous years but that's fine with me especially since my business bank account is not operating 'in the red'

I agree with all the other posts to this point. But if you really want to know WHY, my guess is because they have a somewhat fixed overhead but their business volume is down and so is their revenue. Some have apparently decided that it's easier to try to keep more of the pie for themselves vs. cutting costs in other areas - like laying off an employee or the bookkeeper, etc. or moving to a smaller office, or whatever.
These are tough business decisions that every business owner has to contend with in a down market - including us. However, some will respond instead by beefing up their marketing efforts and/or doing other things to distinguish themselves to maintain their profitability - or at least keep the bills paid.
