Those of you that have pure sine inverters
My inverter died EOM (yesterday, huh!) it was installed around 2006. Is this a normal life of the inverters? Anyone know? It killed my car battery.

I have had one for many years. No problems. I guess it could be how much you use it. Mine gets sporadic use and appears to be ok. Got mine at Home Depot. If it killed your car battery, even though you have had it since 2006, I would question how it was set up. Having been an automotive Service Director (in a different life) I would question both installation and use.

Thanks John I agree with you but it didn't get a lot of use. I took it to a audio installer. It seemed to create a lot of static electricity so in the beginning I took it back to the installer to recheck the ground wire. Nothing was found. I'm going to buy a new one and take it somewhere else for installation. I just couldn't see it going bad so soon with such little use.

Well, perhaps it just wore out. Manufacturing tolerances can account for even the same brands and models to have different life spans.
I know from talking to you at other times, you had it installed correctly. I have gone through a couple on our travel trailer since 2004. We use one sometimes one while dry camping. The ones that went bad on me did drain the battery even while off. The one in my truck is 8 years old, still works. It has good ventilation, so I moved the replacement one for our trailer into a more open area so it would run cooler. Heat kills electronics.
