UPS Rant
Called UPS to order supplies. I asked about envelopes for ground shipments, which one lender requires. I was told to go to any store (Walmart, Staples) and buy my own envelopes. UPS does not have envelopes that can be used for ground, only overnight and 2nd day air. Call me frustrated! OK Hugh, no comments on frustrated. LOL

Altogether, now...
I HATE UPS!
I HATE UPS!
I HATE UPS!
I HATE UPS!
I HATE UPS!
At my age, the only female frustration I am able to relieve is confusion over which brand of fiber to use. Sorry.

I don't understand the frustration.
They don't supply ground envelopes for free, ok. The post office nor Fedex don't supply any envelopes for free either, ok got that. So I think we can deduce that ground shipping from the three large carriers ain't free.
If your customer requires a certain envelope, then your customer provides said envelope or you charge your customer for the envelope.
I would imagine there's not a whole lot of your services that come free, why would you think that others should be free?

Re: Fedex in general ...
I may be wrong, but I don't think the Fed Ex envelopes and/or boxes contain delivery info (i.e. overnight, etc.). I believe it's the airbill used that determines what goes what way.

Re: Fedex Boxes, Envelopes & Paks ...
All state "Express", which is by air, vs "Ground"

Re: I don't understand the frustration.
Understand, if you ship ground using carrier suppied packaging, if it is caught in the scannig at the terminal and the account will be billed at the Priority Next Day Air Suggested Retail rate. Both FedEx and UPS use the Suggested Retail Rate for thier retail coustomer service counters: FedEx is FedEx Office/Kinko's/UPS is The UPS Store and at thier customer service counter's at thier terminals. Yes supplies from both are fee, but if you misuse them they are charged at the shown shown service rate.

Re: I don't understand the frustration. Try this solution--
Take a UPS PAK, turn it inside out so that there is no printing showing, only the gray plastic material; then fill out the airbill/shipping form showing ground and the package will go ground and be billed as ground.
Another choice: buy a box of large 10-1/2X15 [or other large size] manilla envelopes and you can then use those envelopes; this will not cost you very much per each if you buy a box of 50 or 100.
Hope this helps.

Re: I don't understand the frustration. Try this solution--
You are correct, turn the UPS Pak or what ever FedEx calls thiers, you will be billed at service level on the label. Hope fully UPS or FedEx won't do like the PO does; print the level of service on the inside of their free packaging. PS I have been known to ope thier Express Boxes at the seam and turn it inside out and tape it back together. I cheep(sp) too.
