trouble with printing PDF docs for closing
I have a closing schedule two hours from now. I have docs in PDF. However, printers are printing very slow. Both printers are HP. I have not had this problem in over three years. I think it has something to do with PDF document that is 132 pages. Any advice besides buying another printer is an option at this particular moment.

It is probably not your printer but the manner in which the documents were scanned. We run across that every once in a while and it will drive you insane! Find something else to do while your printer kicks out these documents as fast as molasses runs uphill. Good Luck!

Two thoughts. 1) were they sent as text or image? 2) can you sent to you hard dive and then print.

Could be high resolution on the image scan?
If the image is high resolution and it's taking your printer a long time to process the data it could be that your memory inside the printer needs to be increased.
Sometimes printing a smaller page range (1-20, then 21-40, etc.) can help to speed up the memory lag.

SouthernOk is probably right; I sometimes find that pickjing a range of 10 pages solves my problem.

Try saving the pdf to you desktop and print from there.

Re: Could be high resolution on the image scan?
I have actually spoken to several help desks about this problem. It does have something to do with the way they are scanned. To get it to print faster you go to your print menu and click on comments and forms at the top of the page. You then highlight documents instead of the documents and markups then go to the bottom of the print screen and click on advanced. Once you are in advanced you select print as image. If you print in groups of 20 at a time with the above it does pretty good. I don't keep it at that setting all the time but it's a real life saver when I run into a slow printing package.

Re: Could be high resolution on the image scan?
Try printing in draft mode with high resolution docs. I have found that it print much faster with no loss of quality. You could also add more memory to your printer and that will speed things up.

Re: Could be high resolution on the image scan?
I have had this same problem from time to time. I have a HP printer & computer. My computer guru said: Increase memory in printer. I have 288mb It is important to have the correct driver installed for your printer. It is very important that all of the HP fixes to the printer software has been installed. I also had the adobe software updated. Hope this helps.

Re: Could be high resolution on the image scan?
Thanks again for the all the very helpful comments. You see why the NotRot Family is the best. I am happy to say the closing took place successfully. It all worked out as usual. The problem was 10 or so pages were scanned. Once I printed the scanned pages, the remaining 100 plus pages printed in less than 10 mins. I am going to print everyone's response for future reference.
