DO THEY PAY? Please consider the source

When asking if a company has a positive track record - particularly for paying a professional loan signing fee in a timely manner (net 30 or less) - please consider the source of the responses.
Some Notaries are only one of a few Notaries servicing a rural area......so OF COURSE they'll get paid $XXX without approval. OF COURSE, they'll receive the check net 30 or less. Companies don't typically stiff the rare/rural Notaries they'll need again.

It's easy to find, then stiff lowball Notaries in saturated cities. City Notaries are a dime a dozen. So when a Notary posts saying they are surprised that XYZ company (a known lowballer) offers $XX to others, yet offers them $XXXX and consistently meets their fee of $XXXX and pays timely without incident - notice where that Notary posts from......cuz they certainly ain't postin' from Los Angeles.

Very true, LKT/CA

Higher fees also get approved more often than not. Which is pretty much why I don't post
on these topics. It would be misleading.

I agree with you completely. Also schedulers who are familiar with your local area understand fee structure better but often it does no good. When I'm asked to go to San Francisco so schedulers don't even know you must cross a bridge to get there, let along pay a $6.00 toll. You still get that "well that's what we pay cliche".

I'm starting to meet notaries who are not members of NR or other sites because that do this part-time and they are amazed that they can choose how much they are to be paid, they just accept what's offered and think nothing about it.

Your first paragraph above reminded me of something I read years ago: don't ever try to negotiate with someone who doesn't have the authority to say "Yes". Wink

Schedulers are probably just doing what they are told and they have no clue about the kinds of things we have to deal with - like crossing bridges or going over toll roads, etc. And the average employee - especially low paid ones - don't want to be bothered rocking the boat, or don't want to be a PITA to their boss. Just a fact of life. How we choose to react to that reality is up to us, of course, which is, I guess, the whole point of this thread.

But I think Lisa makes a good point. What might work well in an area with little or no competition could have someone else sitting next to a very quiet phone after a while...

JanetK......I talk to the schedulers when they call...Some tell me they must offer this or that. Some say they offer that but can go as high as this. Those are their work rules which I'm aware of. The should offer the highest amount authorized if it's an area with a high cost of living is all I'm saying. I bet a person living in MDR wouldn't take a $80.00 offer.

Schedulers are not brain dead IMO everyone has a conscious. Now if they're trying to hood-wink someone they should be able to tell the difference between a seasoned notary and a newbie then move on from there.
