Global Notary

Just got finished with a signing for them. They worried me to death with the phone calls. Called to set the appointment, called to confirm the appointment, made me call in from closing, called while I was at the closing to make sure I was there, called to make sure it was finished, etc. Please note that I had followed all their steps between these calls even talking with people at the company and they still continued to call. They did meet my fee, which was surprising but the fax backs are awful. Then having to wait for an approval. Feel as if I am 5 years old right now. When I read on here that they are the same people as Nations Direct, it answered some questions.

This is typical for them. I've done a small handful of signings for Globaland they require a ton of hand holding.

I did a closing for them not too long ago (2-22-11) and found out that they are closely related to Nations Direct. I don't recall how I found that out unless it was on here while I was looking into their background. Anyway, they called me constatntly, too. That sure did remind me of ND and their handholding. They met my fee of XXX and didn't try to lowball me. Still waiting on my check. Hope it is mailed out by soon or I will be giving them a call.

Re: Global Notary and Nations Direct

Stand by for a Thursday or Friday closing! My last two for them were on a Thursday and Friday. Along with the documents came the Notary instructions, requiring that EVERY page be faxed back for signings on Thursday and Friday. It seems that the scheduler had neglected to let me know about the extensive fax requirement. I completed the two without a whimper (147 pages and 123 pages) and vowed to do no more for them. The 147 pages took longer to fax than the actual signing took. Afer six weeks, they still call 2 to 4 times per week, and I keep asking them to stop calling me. Please be careful to not confuse Nations Direct with Notary Direct. I've not yet had any with Notary Direct, so I know nothing about it.

Re: Global Notary and Nations Direct

I've experienced the same thing with them. I looked into it here, and I think I read that it's a family thing - ND is the father's and GN is the son's or something like that. However it is, they work exactly the same way. I too have felt like I'm 5 years old and incapable of taking my next breath unassisted Wink

I think they pay similarly to ND - at the end of the month following the month you do the closing. So for a Feb closing the check should arrive sometime in early April.

Re: Global Notary and Nations Direct

There's one answer to all their hand-holding phone calls............don't answer them until

your done. Yes, you've got to recognize the number when it comes across the phone.

You'll probably get hand-holding e-mails, too....and the same applies...don't answer them...

at least not right away...and maybe not at all.

If they expect a huge bunch of faxes they don't tell you about......do what I do....

I fax them 15 pages free of charge.....if they want it all it'll cost them another $25.....

and they need to either fax me or e-mail me an update to my fee on the confirmation.

Re: Jack, you givie them too much credit, but you may

already know this.

"It seems that the scheduler had neglected to let me know about the extensive fax requirement."

NO they didn't "neglect" to do that. Had they informed you prior to your acceptance you would have either charged them an appropriate fee or rejected the signing all together. They know this and count on SA to "feel bad" about turning it back. The law of large numbers is on their side with this tactic, so it is profitable for them to do this.

Personally, I have no issue at all turning back jobs when schedulers/companies use these type of techniques. I used to call and quote them the proper fee for the services they are requesting (absolutely non-negotiable fees at that point on my part), however, over time, I realized that this is a game to them. For those that I know are using this tactic, I turn the job back when I get around to it. Doing this also helps to cut down on the future calls from these companies. I do not want to help them out by calling them in 2-3 minutes so that they can pull it on another SA within the next 10 min or so.

The other way to help protect ourselves is to search SC and the Work forum (orange search button) prior to, or shortly after, accepting the requests and sticking to your fees and payment policies.

As a reminder for everyone, be sure to update SC ratings on the companies that you work for each month. I try to do it the day I receive payment or the day I have to contact them for payment status if other issues have not come up prior to either of those times.
