Hospital Signings

I have some large hospitals near where I live. Who do you contact in the hospital to provide them about my mobile notary services? I am sure they may have their own notary for daytime work but may not be available for 24 hour availability. Your comments and suggestions will be appreciated will also help some others reading this blog.

try by asking at the management office, whatever it is called in that hospital; could also check with the nurse in charge of the various departments at night, but I don't know how this would be received.

A good place to leave your card if you want extra work is with Hospice services. They are often looking for notaries, but do be aware of the laws in your state on notarizing documents since you get alot of requests from families with terminally ill patients that may be on medication.

It depends on the hospital. At some, it's the business office that supplies a master list to all the nurses stations and other departments. At others, it's the volunteer office or the social workers/discharge planners. Usually, it's the business office, though.

You can also try skilled nursing/rehab facilities, assisted living communities, hospice agencies, veteran's homes, etc. However, you should be aware of their solicitation policies ahead of time. What I do is when I'm called to a place b a resident/patient, I make a stop at the business office/front desk and let them know that I was asked to be there and if they maintain a list of notaries. Most of the time, they happily take several cards or they take my information to be added to their list.

I work in a hospital as my full time job and as the others have said, the case management or discharge planning area is the best place way to get your foot in the door at hospitals. You may also try the maternity department. A bulk of my calls have been from that area.

Thank you all for the information. I am sure this will also help other notaries.
