I guess better late than never,,,
Signing completed 11/08/2010. Check dated 12/06/2010 (28 days). Check mailed 03/18/2011 (102 days from date of check or 130 days from signing). Check received 03/21/2011 (133 days from signing).
And this is one of my "good" clients.
IMHO this industry needs some regulation or oversight over signing services. The Notary Public has to jump through hoops to be able to answer the needs of the signing service yet the signing service needs nothing but a telephone and a computer. In many cases not even a local business license, yet they get paid in a few days, then take a good portion of the fee for themselves and then make the Notary Public wait over four months to get paid.
Why do we continue to drop everything to complete a signing and then hope and pray we will eventually get paid? Yes, four months is better then never, but it's still not right.

Don't forget to rate them in SC
Glad to hear that you finally received payment, David.
Naming and linking your post to that particular company would be helpful to others that might receive a call from this former "good" company in the near future. If someone had posted a similar post a day or two prior to you accepting that particular job you would have found it helpful 4+ months ago, wouldn't you agree?
Not trying to jump on you, just pointing out the benefits of exposing a company that sends you a check over 100 days after the signing.
Also, make sure the check is still good before depositing. While some are good for up to 6 months, others can be valid for only 90 days.

This does not, and had never happened to me. I have been completely ripped off and never paid by a few thieves and deadbeats, but I chalk it up to experience. There is a long learning curve in this business, and one of the most important things to learn is who NOT to work for. If someone/anyone can give me a legitimate reason for them keeping MY money in their possession for 30/45/60/90 days then I may accept the assignment and not complain if paid. The ONLY reasonable explanation is that they are very undercapitalized, swimming in debt, can’t pay their overhead, or what they legitimately owe, and they are using my fee (money) to pay the notary that worked for them last month, that they owe but spent their fee (money) on something more pressing like the utility bill. And in this (shrinking) market they will eventually go broke, leaving many not paid. Or they are just deadbeats, stalling, with no intention of paying. In either case I don’t want to work for them. For many reasons, not getting paid only one. You are extending credit to most you work for in this business…do you want to extend credit to someone that gets your money (usually within 3 days to a week) but can’t pay you for months? Not me…I think I’ll just pass on that lovely offer. There are good companies out there…work for them and disregard all the others.JMO

I would love to know which company has this lackluster way of paying it's notaries, so that I don't get caught up in this payback method. This is disgusting, and everyone on this board needs to know who they are! They need to be exposed.
Horrible, however, I'm happy you finally got paid. They were paid in 3 to 5 days. This is sad and unforgivable.

like the others mentioned, if you post about this company, most of us would turn down an assignment from them. Please think about helping us all avoid what you just experience with them. You did get paid.

I agree with what others have said. You'd be helping all of us if you'd simply expose the company publicly. At the very least, please be sure and update SC.
