It's so sad when....
a company sends you a document and states that you forgot to notarize when they just didn't include the document in the packet to begin with. I save all packets on my computer for 1 year before deleting them. This is b/c I know these people will accuse you of doing something wrong when you actually didn't. I was suspicious when I saw it b/c I ALWAYS go through my packet prior to my signings and pre-fill the notary information out so I only have to sign when I am in front of the clients. Can't wait until they get my message in the morning.

You could just have them fax you the page showing that you didn't notarize a signature. If they can't produce the page then...well..no fault of yours. That's alot of space to store old docs on your computer!

They produced the page & they borrowers had signed it. They said that I "forgot" to notarize. When I checked the document they e-mailed me, it was not there. Hence, it was never in the packet. I guess they either forged the borrowers' signatures or sent it to them & then sent it to me. I don't mind the storage.

I save it too
When I get these kind of situations, I will usually see the date on the document for a later date and point that out. If not, I'll call borrower and ask if someone sent them a document to sign after I left. They always say yes. ha ha ha. Gotcha.

Re: I save it too
Thanks, all, for the input. I have not been saving my files for this long of time. 'Seems like a good idea.
