National Notary Ink, Direct Title Inc., American Natl Title
I did a closing in December contracted by National Notary Ink, with American National Title receiving the completed documents. Apparently Direct Title Inc. is associated with American because the contact on the confirmation was at Direct. All parties are located in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Neither title entity has a website any more.
Because I have yet to make contact with any of the above, I have contacted the Colorado Attorney General to see if I can receive payment for my services.
My worse feeling is that when I was contracted, the fee offered was the same amount as listed on the HUD to be paid to National Notary Ink. Since she hasn't paid me to date, did she ever intend to make payment to me? The lender has already paid her, so if she were sincere and honest, it would seem to me that she would have at least tried to respond to me before now.
We'll see what transpires next. I'm going to put this same message on other forums, so if you see it again, you'll know why.

I had the same type of situation happen to me last year. I was offered a job from a signing service and had a time conflict so I had to turn it down. The job I was going to do cancelled and I received an offer for from a Doc Pros Mobile Notary LLC to do the job I had originally turned down for the same price that the signing service offered. In my haste I didn't realize that DPMNL had subcontracted the job for the same price, leaving them a margin of zilch if they paid me. I think you know how this turned out for me; since I was an irregular customer of DPMNL she stiffed me. The only response I got was "we pay all our invoices within thirty days" which may be true for the ones she didn't throw away. The key was the pricing. I should have expected that the primary signing company would not give up their margin to DPMNL and would allow her to offer less. I don't think she could find anyone to do it for less, so she just walked away from the person (me) who did the actual work. Lesson learned. When you saw your fee on the HUD 1 and your name was not on the HUD 1, there was very lilttle chance that you would be receiving your fee.

I'm a person who gives the benefit of the doubt. I chose to believe that National Notary Ink was getting so much business from the title company that she could afford to pass on one for the same price she was expecting to receive. I always hope people will be honest and above-board. I practice, "Do unto others...", and expect the same from them. Perhaps I should remove my rose-colored glasses.

I disagree. When I printed out the docs and saw the figures on the docs were the same as what I was "supposed" to be paid I would turn the job back and take the loss for the printing. No one works for free and stays in business. Ikanfo, you are far to generous.

I also had a closing request from Direct Title - UT office, they don't answer the phone, emails etc. I first called them, the rep advised their underwriter cancelled their insurance. You should report them to your state department of insurance, suggesting they are not disbursing funds as per the HUD

NNI owes me for a Dec. 2010 signing. Tammy said she sold the business and a new owner and is supposed to pay me. To date no one answers the phone or replies to emails. Can anyone recommend a collection agency?

I think I would argue this one. She is the one who hired you. She is the one you had a contract with. She is the one who received the funds from Title. She is the one who owes you. Period!
