Nations Direct
I was leaving a signing when I get a call from Nations Direct, Anahein Hills Ca, a 2 stars. Low ball an very slow pay if at all. Another WARNING!!! This is not Notary Direct, Huntington Beach CA, 3 stars. Low ball but pays timely. I was trying to get to another signing and didn't think. The job was a J C Wentworth settlement, nothing to do with loans. It generally about 25 pgs with one Notary. What they needed was to met the client Sat noon at thier home, about a mile from me. The client will have the package. Do the Notary. Pick up the package. Fax the entire package. US mail to J C Wentworth. We pay $30 plus $3 for the postage. My fee is $75 plus $8 for postage. Can you do this for $50 plus $3 for postage. I'm thinking, I'll pick up pocket money for a nice Sat evening meal for Carla as this is early Sat afternoon and right now all I plan on doing is being at home to watch NASCAR and or golf. I get back to the office to find the confirmation. The fee is broken out: $47 for signing fee, $3 for postage. My 1st question, when was postage on a Priority letter $3. Today it is $5 if 1# or less and $7.50 if Flat Rate envelope. Special instruction include their maybe 2 packets, if so both MUST be faxed and mailed. Must call when you arrive at the signing. After signing, fax back IMMEDIATELY. As I picking up the phone to turn this back, I get a call from Nations Direct. I just start in with I will not do this signing as it was mis-represented as to what was involved. The answer was that they don't all ways know what's involved either and when you accept you do what is needed. If I turn it back they will take me out of thier data base. DUH!!! What do you think I'm telling you. You mis-led what this assignmnet was and the Notary must beg to be paid. Just incase you want to contact me, I do sign my real name. Well, Sid, it all fell apart because of "do the notary". Too much fun there, so of course there will be penalties.
LOL

WOW did you just give me an idea....instead of accepting a signing fee from a SS how about just tell them what your profit has to be. LOL $80 + printing + parking + gas +toll + shipping = $130.....hey that may work?

I would have told them that I have already taken them out of my database so it would be nice if they could do the same.
If they don't know what is expected they why are they trying to assign the job in the first place? Since they "don't know" maybe everyone should be charging them full loan signing fees with the ~ possibility ~ of reducing the price if paid on time and if the job is as described. Just a thought.
I love it when low ball companies that are slow to no pay think that they are hurting us by "taking us out of their database." That's their "I got you back for not taking my low ball offer" response.

Nation Direct is just awful. The ONLY somewhat nice thing I can say is that they do pay as agreed, but that is "the end of the month following the month the closing occurs in." For example - if you do a closing on 3/11, you can expect to receive payment sometime in the first couple of weeks of April. Other than that, BEWARE. They can be rude (not always, but can be), they docs are chronically too late and the closing needs to be moved, they wants LOTS of handholding, and the fax backs are ridiculous. All that for $. I am no longer accepting closings for them because they called me at 3pm to do a closing at 5pm, haggled on the price, finally came within $10 of my fee (under) and then called to say it was going to be the next day, so now that it's not an emergency, can I do it for $? I said no, and they agreed to my price. We hung up and I later turned down two closings from a good client because I already had the ND closing booked. Well, they never sent the confirmation, never called me, nothing. I called back and was told they couldn't find this closing in their database, so they couldn't say for sure what happened. I'll tell you what happened - they called around, found someone who would do it for $ (or at least less than my fee) and blew me off. NEVER AGAIN. I've let them jerk me around a bit for a couple of years, because I figured $ was better than no money at all. I was wrong.

I think you can check SC, but have to take it with a grain of salt. I've looked up some of my great clients and see negative comments. Not my experience with them, but apparently, it is someone's. Works the other way too...I've had some awful experiences and see that there are some very complimentary posts about that company. On top of that, ANYONE can create an account here. The conspiracy theorist in me says that the nice comments about the crappy SS could come from the SS itself...

I believe you mean that if you do a signing on 3/11 you can expect to receive payment sometime in the first couple of weeks of May.

I just don't understand why they have to wait so long when the loan closes title disburse the money to banks signing services co etc. and we have to wait so long for our money.. A thought if we are late with our creditors we are charged a late fee maybe we should start charging a late fee to these late payers..

JG Wentworth will pay $100 directly to the notary for their structured settlements. Call them to be put into their database.

"JG Wentworth will pay $100 directly to the notary for their structured settlements. Call them to be put into their database"
A few years ago when I was still doing signings JG Wentworth called me for one of those settlements. They agreed to my fee. When I get to the signers home he wasn't prepared (I was told he would have had the paperwork filled in already) he didn't understand some of the questions. He called JG Wentworth and then he filled the paperwork in. He signed the documents, I notarized his signature and sent the papers back to JG Wentworth. About a week later they called me again, wanted me to go back to the guys house as the deal had changed since the previous week. I told them I would do it, but needed paying for both signings. No problem, they would pay. So, went back. Guy still had problems, but he signed and I notarized and sent documents back.
Then about another week later Peachtree called for me to go out to this same guy's house. I went out and he was telling me how JG Wentworth were a bunch of crooks etc and he wasn't doing business with them. He had the paperwork from Peachtree - but as with the paperwork for JG Wentworth he had the same problems filling out the paperwork and had to call them for assistance. A week later I got my check from Peachtree. Never got paid by JG Wentworth and all contacts I had with them they told me that the client was responsible for paying me not them. So never got paid. Their client was not the one who hired me and was not responsible for paying me, JG Wentworth was responsible and should have paid me for both trips.

JG Wentworth
Sorry to hear you weren't paid, Sylvia. The only time I wasn't paid was when I was hired by a "so-called" signing service. Harper Signing Service, who is defunct now, she was paid by JG and I've never been able to receive payment from her. I called JG and they told me she was paid but was no longer working for them. I tried putting this SS in SC but never could. She was listed as a notary and not an SS. Also, there was/is another notary that wasn't paid by her and he was taking her to court. I haven't heard what the outcome was, he said it was more on principle and not the money as he was spending quite a bit to take her to court. My opinion on structured settlements and the ones I have collected signatures on is that these people are desperately in need of money RIGHT NOW. All structured settlements are costly for the person who has to resort to this means of getting their money. It is what it is.

Re: JG Wentworth
Unfortunately sometimes structured settlements are the only way for a plaintiff to get paid in a law suit. You can win your case, but if the defendant has insufficient assets to pay the judgment the plaintiff is out of luck. In Connecticut Superior Court judgments are good for 20 years. You can hound the defendant during that time with judgment liens to pressure the defendant by ruining his credit rating and preventing disapation of the assets he does have available....garnish the defendant's bank account...seize the defendant's non-exempt property.
However, if you have been doing business with a corporation or LLC your judgment is limited to the corporation's or LLC's assets. There is always the bankruptcy court which is the judgment debtor's friend.
So in some cases the only hope of the plaintiff's judgment being paid is through the defendant's future earnings. It would be counterproductive to put the defendant out of business. At that point selling/assigning the judgment to a third party becomes attractive provided the plaintiff can find a buyer for a reaonable price.

Under contract law there are three elements to an express contract....offer...acceptance ...consideration.
The offer and acceptance have to be a mirror image of each other or there is no meeting of the minds and thus no contract. It sounds like the confirmation you received failed to be the mirror image of your offer in the original conversation. If so, you could tell them that there is no contract when they tell you that you do what is needed.

They are low balls and they cheat you as well, received my check for 2 closings and both were short, I called and send an email to Celiza Barba very unprofessional never heard from her so if you get a closing from her run away faster then a bullet.

Nations direct is soooo cheap. I would NEVER do and edoc signing for $60.00. Then you add the fax backs they want. Maybe the reason they need all those faxbacks is because noone who knows what they are doing would accept such cheap signing. Then they want you to call from the table to tell you what you already know, like you are a child. I've done over 1000 signings. I think I probably know more about them than the person they are wanting me to call. I have done some for them but when the told me $60.00 told them what I would do it for, which was much more than that. Think the problem is there are newbies out there that don't realize by the time they print the docs, go to the signing, then do all the fax backs, they are only making about minimum wage on these signings.

Only good comment on them. When they do accept my fee, which is always much more than they offer. They do pay on time. But the one's with all the fax backs more trouble than worth
