One signature notarization for short sale package
Okay, I get a call from the executive offices of title, can I accommodate, for the sales agent of short sale transaction, traveling to next county to sign this one page notarization of short sale document (Indymac REO), you know the guys who are making all the money on these loans they (OneWest Bank) purchased for 70 cents on the dollar.
What would I charge? Broker will pick me up and deliver me back to my office. I quote $75. She blows her lid, WHAT? I thought it was $10 per signature per documents. Yes, that is right, but my time to travel roundtrip and take myself on the market costs me money too.
Unbelievable. Then she proceeds to tell me how many real estate brokers are in trouble and not making it. Yes, I know.
Feel like I'm in the charity business sometimes. Broker could take her client to a local title company, but doesn't want to inconvenience the client.
What about the poor little notary!

"Broker...doesn't want to inconvenience the client."
In my corporate days, clients were those on both ends of the work I was doing. If someone wanted something that I could provide, whether my boss or the ultimate receiver, they were my client.
With that in mind, as an independent, freelance notary, the OP would be a client to the broker. Too often people only see the one they're getting money from as the client. But to get the job done, they need the person they must pay, too. And that person's time and knowledge are worth something beyond the statutory rate.

Point of information...
"one page notarization of short sale document (Indymac REO)"
A short sale and an REO are two entirely different animals.
